I'm shocked......You can't even have a normal conversation on forums these days because of heavily
injected spam!!! Can the moderators use some sort of filters? Even the social netowks are compressed
by spam! We need to do something about this!

Not sure what spam you are talking about here. This forum is great for having normal conversations...without any spam

I've always found this site great for finding a rolex watch and some viagra

haha just kidding, really I've only seen 1 spam post in the last 6 months and it was removed rather quickly

I see very little spam here and I have been using the forum for about 2 years now. Whenever I do see it I hit the "Report to Moderator" button. They always seem appreciative. They take down the posts and even send me a thank you email. The last spam I saw was a week or so ago; somebody had posted the same thing in 11 different places, so in the comment on the report field I just wrote "all posts from this user are spam".

I encourage you all to do it when you see spam (or offensive posts, which I think have mostly been eliminated from here as well). It's kinda like picking up litter in your neighbourhood; though you're not responsible for the mess, helps keep the place tidy for everybody to enjoy.

The OP is a spammer (yes - I know - ironic).

You'll notice this was the OP's first post. The OP was trying to spam this forum by including a link in their message (a word or series of words in the OPs message were supposed to be linked to a URL). However since new members are not allowed to post links, the link to a URL was dropped when the message was posted.

So to summarize...

OP = spammer
OP's attempt to spam this forum = FAIL :D

Spammer spamming about too much spam. Here's some more spam just to make the thread extra spammy.

Lol awor, and thanks Scylla. I looked at the OPs previous posts and couldn't figure out why there was only this one and why they had already received a negative rating.

Curious how you could tell that links were attempted.

It's an educated guess. I've seen similar posts on other forums that allow new members to post links - and the links have been spam. Another popular one is to post something along the lines of: "I completely agree with the previous poster!" (where part of that reply includes a link - i.e. several words are underlined and in blue indicating that you can click on them to get elsewhere).

The old spamming method was to post a message with links where both the message and links had nothing to do with the forum (e.g. advertising discount prescription drugs, male infertility medication, etc.).

The new spamming method is to post a message that has something to do with the topics discussed on the forum - but include links that take you to ads for discount prescription drugs, male infertility medication, etc.

So same old spammers - different methods.

I use the "report to moderator" function regularly and try to do my bit to keep these forums spam free. Although they're pretty clean even without the flagging.

OK - here's a good example of the types of messages you see from spammers these days (taken from a different immigration forum). As you'll see, it mentions stuff related to immigration - but something about the message isn't quite right. This was also that posters very first post on that forum. And the words "cash advance" were linked to a URL (likely a URL that gives you cash advances).

Interesting thread about the Residency in Canada and thank you also for the link, it helped a lot on my queries about this issue. As a connection to Visa Residency, I am planning to apply for a Green Card Lottery program. I read that application to this program is open for all individuals worldwide that's why I don't have to worry about the ethnicity but the process of application is not easy that it may cost of huge cash advances. Is any one knows how the application for Green Card Lottery works? Thanks a lot. :)

Scylla, If you find one with a URL that just gives cash (not cash advances) I would be pleased to know :-*

All the best. Allison
