How do you change your marital status while your PR Application is being process? I have it on single and I want to change it as married. Replies are much appreciated. Thanks!

If you need to add your spouse to your PR application, you need to re-do all application forms where your spouse would be listed and send them along with the marriage certificate and your spouses fees to your visa office and ask that your spouse be added. If your spouse is already a Canadian or a PR, just re-do the additional family information form and send it with a copy of your marriage certificate and a copy of your spouses Canadian passport or PR card and a letter stating you got married and want to change your status.

Hi Baki11,

Congratulations on your wedding! I also got married while my PR application is in process. I sent them a generic email asking about the steps. and see below their response.....

My Visa Process Office is CPP-O.

"We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence informing us of a change in your family composition due to marriage.
If your spouse is NOT a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, he or she must be examined in the context of your application, whether or not he or she will accompany you to Canada. He or she will have to undergo a medical examination. We will send you the appropriate form upon reception of the documents listed below.
In order to add your spouse to your application, we require the following documents:
• processing fee for your spouse (if accompanying you to Canada)
• copy of birth certificate of your spouse
• copy of your spouse’s valid passport
• 4 recent photographs of your spouse according to the specifications
• an original or a notarized “no” criminal activity certificate for your spouse
• a completed application kit with all the requirements
• updated IMM0008 Generic and updated IMM5406 “Additional Family Information” form for yourself
• copy of marriage certificate
• a “Certificat de Sélection du Québec” for your spouse ( in his or her name), if you wish your spouse to immigrate to the province of Québec with you at this time [Only for Quebec Skilled Worker Class Applications]
Copies of the original documents with original certified translations into English or French are required. All documents must be sent by mail, fax (see fax number and address below) or email.
Application forms, fees schedule, payment methods and photo specifications are available on our Web site.
We will contact you if there is any further information we require.
You can send your documents to the following mailing address:

Case Processing Pilot – Ottawa
219 Laurier Avenue West, 7th floor, section B
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1
Canada

Our Mailing Address is imperative for Original documents requested (such as Police Certificates which must be Originals)"

Hope this will help!

Thanks guys for the replies I really appreciate it! =) Im still at my work permit and I had my PR application sent already before I got married. If I change my status to married, and by the way I married a Canadian citizen, will there be a possibilities that the processing time for my PR application will be faster than normal? Or should we just apply for a Spousal Application and cancel my current PR Application on process?

It won't speed up your application times
You haven't said which program you applied for pr under, or when -different programs have different processing times so it's hard to say what to do. I wouldn't cancel current application though - you can have more than 1 running at the same time but it might not be necessary

It is easy because I got married while my application was in process. U have to write ADD ON letter to processing center, I am sure CIC rep will direct you on what to write.
