Help with travelling to India.

Hi,

My wife is sponsoring me, we send our application for spousal sponsorship(outland) on June 15. I did upfront medical as well.I am still in canada with a work permit which is expiring this December 2015. I have few doubts. Could you guys please help me on this?

When I checked the application status in cic website it says,

We received your application to sponsor ***** on June 17, 2015.
We started processing your application on July 21, 2015.

These are my doubts.

1. I booked tickets for India on september 2015 annd will be coming back on october. I have a multiple entry visa valid till December. Will there be any problem with my travel?

2. If a decision has been made on my application will they ask for my passport or will it be a problem if I am in India at that time?

3. I know no one can really predict anything. But asking because curiosity, approximately how long it will take to get my PR?

There should be no problems with the travel since you have applied Outland, which basically lets you travel to and from Canada, so long as you satisfy the entry requirements every time, which it sounds like you will.

I have no idea of the current timeframes for your Visa Office (wherever your application has been sent to) but you should be prepared to send your passport to that office when it is requested, wherever you may be. By all means go to India, but if it is requested during that time, plan to extend your stay somewhat

All this said, I would hazard a guess that you will not get a PPR (Passport Request) before October. December possibly, but maybe closer to early next year.

So If cic asks me for the passport in between my travel. ie, between September and October what are all the options I have? Because if I send my passport during that time I cant travel back to Canada. Right?

That's right You would need your passport to come back into Canada, after all. Now, I don't remember if there is a time limit on the Passport Request, but if you do happen to receive it while you are abroad, you may be able to contact them (state your case number) saying you are travelling and will send it once you are back in the country.

They typically assume that someone who has applied outland is in a situation where they can live without their passport for a couple of weeks. I don't think you will be in great peril either way. To have applied in June and then receive a PPR in October seems REALLY fast to me.

As Duberblue mentioned there is no restriction on the applicant to travel and as long as you have a valid permit and visa you can come into Canada.

You might or might not be aware the currently processing time for New Delhi visa office is 16 months and with an average processing of 8-9 months for straight forwarded cases so its highly unlikely you will get a passport request in Oct because they are just working on applications from Sept/Oct 2014 and you are a June 2015 applicant and you will not hear back for a request until 8-9 months have passes since they have received the file AOR2.

Btw from your timeline it doesnt seem like they are processing your file; the first stage is to get sponsor approval which is what is in progress and is taking 60 days plus so you have a long way to go after SA it gets transferred to Delhi.

Bottom line: you are free to travel and wont get the passport request while you are away.
