Hi Everyone!

I'm applying to permanent resident alone through Express Entry, I received an ITA around 2 weeks ago, and I went to the doctor to do the medical exam, however she told me I could do the exams, but she was not going to be able to upload my results since she needs an IME number from me.
She told me CIC sends this unique number once you received your invitation, and with this number she can upload my results and linked them to the number. I haven't received anything, so I'm pretty nervous, since I don't know who to contact, and now she says she can upload the results but saying that I'm asking that without the number, which according to her probably won't work.
Also, she says that after Dec 2016 regulations have changed and I cannot do an upfront medical exam, so basically I need the IME number.

Does anyone knows when should I receive specific instruction from CIC with the IME? does it take that long? and if not what can I do?

Thanks in advance!!!

tell your doctor that you are an EE candidate and you dont have an IME number and have to do upfront medicals. For me the IME number was generated by emedical which the clinic uses.

The clinic should generate a UMI (not IME) number for you and give you an emedical information printout at the end of the examination. If you're applying under EE you should be Non-EDE Worker.

sorry it's umi - unique medical id. not ime.

Thanks! my doctor told me she had only this alternatives to put: Family-EDE, worker, student or visitor
it doesn't say anything about Non-EDE, should she put family-EDE? even if I plan to go alone and I don't have family in Canada? I'm confused...I don't know why she doesn't have more options. Please help!

IME: Non EDE
Upfront medical type: Worker

When you are done the upfront medicals, the eMedical info sheet will have a barcode on the top right hand corner with your UMI underneath the barcode

Hopefully this info helps you and your doctor

Hi guys,

My question in regarding the medical exam. I am the primary applicant and my wife is the "accompanying spouse". I am living in USA currently.
1. I am going to India for a business trip and will get my medical done there. Booked an appointment for 10-Dec. Reason: It's much cheaper to get the medical exam done from India than it is in US (~$70 vs $450)

2. Since my wife wont be travelling with me, I'm planning to get her exam from US only.

Question 1 : Can I and my wife get medical exams done separately?

Q2: When I called the US doctor to take the appointment for my wife, they are asking for IME number. When I tell them I don't have an IME number and its an upfront medical exam they ask me the category - worker, visitor or student. She qualifies into none of these. What should I tell them? I'm totally lost..

PS: I am an express entry candidate in FSW category

Thanks
Anupam

Q1. Yes, that is fine.
Q2. Your (both of you and your spouse) category should be Non-EDE Worker.
Good Luck!

Good day,

I was having a trouble with the type of medical exam I was going to take on the day of my schedule. Tried to contact Canadian Embassy but no one was answering. This thread has helped me out. Hopefully I took the right exam.

Question though, they gave me an emedical information sheet. Is this the one Im gonna upload on my cic account?
Although cic is asking for IMM107B.

Thank you.
