MY BIG DILEMMA.

Here's what happened.

My husband (then bf) and I has been in a long distance relationship from the start. When we got the chance to be together, we wanted to do everything that we can to lessen the time that we have to spent apart.

Few weeks before we got married, we decided that he should try his luck for TRV for reasons like: (1)to prove to my parents that he is willing to do anything on his own to be with me (2)to make it easy for us to be together (3)to have the option of postponing our wedding and have time to prepare for it

He applied and DID NOT mention me in his application (as his gf) although my "name" was part of it because we paid the application with my credit card. Unfortunately in his itinerary (supporting documents), he stated that he want to come to travel in Canada for two weeks to travel which has been his lifelong dream before he got married 2years from now (date of TRV application).

He got denied and we decided to push thru with the wedding so that we can move forward with the sponsorship.

Now, we are in the process of applying for Spouse Sponsorship and of course, we mentioned that he applied for TRV in the past. I am not sure how to explain this in the application or if we need to explain it. Technically, we did not reveal our real intention for the TRV which is to be able to spend time together because of reasons mentioned above.

Are we in big trouble?
Can a TRV application in the past could cause trouble in the sponsorship?

You are not in big trouble.

You have to mentioned the refused TRV on the application. I would explain that he wanted to come to Canada to see you, the person who is now his spouse. You don't need to repeat what you said were the reasons at the time - CIC has the application, but the visa officer may not look at it. He or she will just note that there was one.

Having refused TRV applications is a red flag for the PR application, but just one should be OK, especially since he wanted to come here to see you. It is when an applicant has 5 or 6 refused visa applications that the visa officer will think that he or she is just desperate to leave their country.

Thank you, canadianwoman!

Despite the fact that he did not mention in his TRV application that he wants to visit me (Note: I was not part of his TRV application aside from my credit card.), should we still mention that his goal was to see me? It might be contradicting.

Should we just mention that he applied and got denied?

Either way is probably OK, because there is just one refused TRV. Still, I would say that he wanted to visit you. Just that one line is enough, you shouldn't explain that he put he wanted to travel but actually just wanted to see you. If there is an interview, and the visa officer asks about this, he can say that yes, he wanted to travel in Canada and visit you. This is not really contradictory.

The visa officer will see that there was a refused TRV application, but he or she might not bother looking at the details of it.

What country is he from?

Where does it even say you have to mention what was put on the TRV app?

If you do mention it, I agree with Canadianwoman, just mention it along with the original reason he put on the app. Something like "I wanted to travel in Canada and see my g/f" or something like that. Then no lie involved and it can't be held against him at a later time.

You don't have to put what was on the original TRV application form, but on the form where you have to list refused visa applications, there is a box for further explanation. I think it is better to state the applicant wanted to come to Canada to visit his current spouse, than to just give the date of refusal.

I don't think so, refused trv is a red flag, but the fact the reason why less contact , if only they allow me before I should have meet my husband family , friends and see places there. That we tried to be together but they gave a *****. Reason was employment status , but the fact I'm still working now with regular job, and personal asset the fact too I'm renting . Oh , well I just didn't show enough proof of place rented.
It was only for two weeks plan , but thought they will refuse me cause of ties to Canada , we indicate fiancé.
