Hey everyone, I'm currently in Canada on working holiday visa which expires on August 13th, 2016. I'm about to get married and apply for the spousal sponsorship but my situation is quite difficult.
Me (20) and my boyfriend (24) have met at work in Alberta, fell in love but he moved to Ontario in March. I left my ex-boyfriend for him, moved across the country and we're finally together. We're living together but his address is still under his mom's name because she's on disability and receives financial support. We want to get married at the end of this month but we can't afford to pay for a wedding ceremony. :(
We're truly deeply in love and we wanna stay together. I'm just really concerned about proving that our relationship is genuine. We have a few pictures together, we can also show them all of our text messages and phone calls, receipts for rent with both of our names..
So my questions are:
How can we prove our relationship?
Does he have to change his address?
What else could we collect to prove our love?

I APPRECIATE EVERY RESPONSE, THANK YOU!

If you can't have a wedding ceremony then that's fine, be sure to explain your situation in your application of why you couldn't have one and why maybe certain family members (like if parents) aren't there! If possible have a "small" gathering (like dinner, after civil/court wedding party or lunch) to at least celebrate your marriage with some close friends and family and make pictures of this, this could help. Be sure that your two witnesses are someone close to either him or you (if possible), and be sure to have picture of your civil/court wedding (include your witnesses in it). Or if you wan't to have a ceremony in the future when you guys can affort it, include this in your application too.

For evidence aside from pictures, texts and calls you could also use stuff like cinema tickets, cards, e-mails, pictures of you and him with friends or family members, anniversary gifts, gifts you gave each other at the first meeting, screenshots from sites like facebook where family or friends comment under pictures of you two together (if you have any) or when you two went "facebook official" (to show your relationship isn't hidden) or even interaction between you two on facebook. You could also get screenshots from conversations with you and a friend or a family member(s) where you talked about your spouse. And you also could get people who know about you two and about your relationships to write letters about your relationship and include them. Basically include everything that you can think of that you guys did together and have proof of.

And of course you both could make a cover letter of your relationship to include.
I'm not sure about the address thing tho, sorry!

Also what country are you from? (Certain countries could make your situation more difficult).
I hope any of these suggestions help, I'm sure there are many other suggestions on this forum! :)

Thank you very much, this was actually really helpful! I'm from the Czech Republic so it shouldn't be a problem. We'll try our best, hopefully they believe us!

Hi

I don't believing big weddings. they just for show up. the bigger the wedding, shorter they stay together. even billionaires like mark zuckerberg got married with no family or friends at all. But in your case all you need is a small ceremony at home or local church with closest friends and family close to 10. Do you know any friends good with Camera ? or a cheap photographer (you need to sent to CIC). if your family can't come, don't worry. just borrow or pick up a cheap wedding dress and rent a suit for your boyfriend. You can decorate on your own. whole ceremony you can do less than 1000 bucks. get a cake from a supermarket, candels from dollar store. make some snacks for guest by yourself or go to a restaurant after the ceremony

Go somewhere for honeymoon for the weekend. Think simple

otherwise just do the common law application (if you were together more than 1 year and can prove)

on application you can put the both addresses. (mailing and other)

you don't need millions of photos. some people apply with less than 20 ( but more you send is better)

You should also get some letters from the people who aware about your relationship. like people at work who knew your relationship.

you should be honest and well detailed to the CIC officer. Even though your relationship is genuine and whole world knows that, It come down to one person sitting in a desk may be thousands miles away. You and your husband should both write two separate letters explaining your relationship.

As long as your partner can prove that he got a enough salary to meet your basic needs (food, Accommodation and clothing) without you're working, thats enough

Good luck
