Hi everyone

A couple of people on Facebook and the forum, especially October 2020 applicants have used the Additional Family Information for IMM5406 version 09-2018. Apparently the forms were updated around mid-September (version 08-2020), however due to logistics some of us were already in the process of sending/courier our application packs back and forth.

We were wondering if there is any grace period, or what we should do in a situation like this? Should we call and get a temp file number (keep in mind we are Oct 2020 applicants, right back there in the queue...) and send the new version through webform?

HELP!

Don't have a specific answer nor reference that I can point to for your certainty ... but this has come up before and there is some form of grace period in which submitting the previous version of forms is perfectly fine. I seem to recall six months; it may have been 'one previous version / not more than six months' (meaning still okay).

So for those who have just submitted with only one month off, almost certainly okay.

However if truly concerned you'll have to do more research or contact IRCC for confirmation.

The other thing you can check is if the 'application package' for your countries are still using the previous form. For some reason the application packages seem to use previous version for a bit longer than individual forms searched for and found (presumably takes some time for them to update the code generating these packages). If IRCC itself is using/referring clients to the old versions, definitely should be okay.

Warning to those who find this in future: still always better to check if forms have been updated BEFORE submitting. The forms seem to have minor updates relatively frequently (there may be no difference in the information submitted, just tweaks to the embedded code formats, for example) - BUT it's always possible they'll do a more extensive and important update at some point and insist upon newer version. (Hopefully these would be announced but you never know).
