Help - Permanent Residency Application to Sydney Nova Scotia Office

Hi,

I sent in mine and my husband's PR application to the Sydney Nova Scotia Federal Skilled Worker office and it arrived on April 7th 2009 at 1:01pm (MST). The application went in with my job letter from a Canadian office, mine and my husband's certificates of good character, the required money as stated on the website, all forms signed and completed and our pictures.
Today is June 29th and we haven't received any letter from the Canadian Immigration with our reference number or any correspondence whatsoever.
Can someone tell me if this is normal or if this should be expected. I called a couple Immigration consultants and they said that this is very unusual and I should write them a letter with copies of the courier information and the bank information and wait for a response.
Has someone gone through this type of delay in recent times as the expectation being given to me is that I should have received some correspondence within 2 months of the application being sent in.
Does anyone know if or how I can contact them without having to wait for e-mail / mail e.g. via telephone?
Any help provided will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds a bit long. Where are you? I think if you search for the forum, there is an email address and you could email them. I don't know how responsive they are.

Also check your SPAM folder incase they did email you regarding your file number. I read here that some people did get an email but not sure if it was from Sydney or from their visa office.

Do you know if your check has been encashed?

Hi,

Thanks for the response. We are currently situated in Calgary. I check my SPAM almost daily and haven't seen anything.
My local office would be in trinidad, but not sure if they will send it there considering that I have a job offer and am working in the job right now and also we were both admitted under work permits to Calgary for 3 years.
I can't say whether the cheque was encashed, as we did a money order and as soon as it was done, the money was also taken out of the account.
I will call the bank tomorrow with the reference numbers as I don't have the slip here with me to enquire whether the money was cashed.
This entire thing doesn't sound very positive for me right now as it's nearly 3 months and no response.
Thanks

Your money gets withdrawn since the moment you make the money order. In order to check whether the beneficiary has cashed the money or not yet you need to go to the issuing bank and give them the blue or whatever the color of the copy which they have attached to your original copy of the money order and they will check within minutes at their system to see whether your money order has been cashed or not yet.

In respect to the waiting time it might be (not sure) because they need some extra time to check out the validity and genuity of your arranged employment offer with the Human Resources and Social Development and the related departments like your employer, because in case of category 1 (one year experience on any of the 38 NOCs) they make the desision by themselves upon the duties which people write down on the applications without any need to contact any third party at this stage in (sydney nova scotia) so it might be faster than your category just at this stage. (personal opinion)

Hi,

I thank you very much. Your both responses have helped me feel less stressed.
I will check with the bank tomorrow and see if it was cashed.
I was brought across to this organization through an intra company transferee, but, as I started working here, the Canada organization decided to hire me permanently.
I hope this doesn't cause any conflicts with the HRSDC. I am hoping that what you guys are saying are correct.
Thanking you guys so much.
