HELP! Passport lost but got the ITA

Hi guys,

I have just got my ITA today and I can't be more happy about it. (BTW I acquired my post-graduate work permit about a year ago)

However, there was an unfortunate incident happened to me that a theft broke into my house by kicking the door open and went straight up to the second floor and took all my valuables, including my passport and work permit. This happened two days ago and really there is nothing I can do to make it preventive, the alarming system was on and proper actions were taken like calling the police and getting the occurrence number etc.

Since today I just got my ITA, I glanced into it and realized it needs my passport and documentation # etc. I do have a photocopy of the lost passport and work permit, but I assume these numbers would all be changed when the replacements are issued. Do you guys have any suggestions regarding this issue, and could you guys provide any numbers or government agent to talk to so i can extend the deadline for submitting my application package.

Thanks for your reply, however, i went to my consulate yesterday morning and they required me to provide the work permit which was also stolen in the same incident. Even if I had the work permit, it took them two months to get the passport replacement. Thus I wish i could speak to someone that could have my situation explained and deadline extended.

Thanks everyone for reading this topic but if you have any information like what number you could contact to get a real represntative from CIC to speak with it would be fantastic. i have tried calling them tons of times with no luck.

Before anything, apply for a replacement document - there is a proof of urgency option on the form. Mine got lost in the mail and I successfully applied for a replacement.

Maybe you can even get a new one printed by flagpoling at the US Border. (don't take my word for that and that could be risky)

Great help, Thanks, Yes i have already requested for a replacement of my work permit and explained the situation in the mail, hopefully that goes through and takes less time than it should be, on the website it says it takes up a month but how long did you wait to get the replacement? thank you again.

My advice - Hire a lawyer. Less headache for u and u'll lessen the risk considerably. Think about the anxiety u'll be having after receiving AOR and hundreds of negative thoughts during that time.
