Help needed regarding visa application

HI everyone,
Hope you are all doing well. I am a PhD student from India and I have got a post doc offer from a university in Canada. I have to join there by September. I am planning to get married by August this year and what I was wondering is that, can I get Visa for my wife also so that she can join along me in September. She is currently working in India. Do plan on waiting till getting married to apply for the Permit? That may be too late... apply first, don't get married and have her go as a tourist... that is my suggestion. You should've applied already. Regards
