Hi all.
I had all my documents + application ready and tried to apply for Indian visa.
But they are not issuing Indian visa on a travel document even if you are PR in Canada.

Not too sure if India will issue a tourist visa on the basis of your Canadian Certificate of Identity (COI). Most Schengen countries will not issue any visa (Germany could be an exception).

I found out that there's a workaround the 60 days restriction on re-entering India as a Afghanistan citizen. It could be possible to re-enter before the 60 days. That point, however, is secondary at this moment as you need a tourist visa first.

I'll see if there's a solution and get back to you

Thanks a lot for the reply.
This is the first time I’m traveling India since 2011.
In 2011 I travelled from Afghanistan.
Then I moved Canada on 2014 since 2014 I have not travelled anywhere.
I have a friend every year she goes Germany 30-40 days.
Because with travel document Germany is visa free and you can stay 90 days but your flight from Canada should be straight no transit or stops.

  • Certificate of Identity is for:
    • Permanent Resident awaiting citizenship but Cannot obtain passport (for valid reason)
    • Stateless person without protected person status
But I have the blue travel document which is for PR card holders and is valid 5 years and expires same time as your PR card expiry.

I wasn’t even happy with BLS International Service Centre ( visa collection agency) then I emailed directly to High commissison of India then I got a reply saying” what BLS told you is correct, we are not issuing visa on PRTD.
They asked me to get or renew my Afghani Passport, but whenever I try to apply I’ll lose my status in Canada because in my court decision NOD it’s mentioned.
Pakistan and Dubai also not issuing visa on PRTD.

we would like to apply for India's visa to go there and get married but they are not issuing visa specially for me (Canadian PR card holder) they keep asking for an invitation from an indian person, which we dont know anyone there, we just go to get married that's the only reason for our visiting india.
Did u apply for the visa with refugee travel documents?

Yeah got the ETA online and then they issued visa at the port of entry.

I just arrived back Canada and starting my husbands application.
That's so so super fantastic. Happy for you and your husband. Congratulations on getting married :):)
