Hi
I am just about creating my CIC express entry profile and am struggling in certain aspects, would appreciate if someone can help me out on this please.

I have completed the following education
1. 12th - 1995
2. Bcom - 1998
3. Three Years Diploma (certificate course) in computers (GNIIT) from NIIT - 2000
4. MSC-IT - 2004 ( lateral entry into 3rd semester based on my GNIIT diploma from NIIT)

WES report :
CANADA EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY
bachelorr's degree 4 YEARS

The diploma in Computers from NIIT is not a part of a formal education and hence WES did/would not validate anything other than formal education so it evaluated the rest except my Diploma.

Question is:
1. Do i only mention WES evaluated education or also the Diploma (certificate course) in the Express Entry profile in MYCIC ? If I can mention then what would i choose in the "Level of education" dropdown?

2. Secondly based on the question above I started working from 2001 after completing my NIIT diploma the same year, so in the above case , in the "Work History" section do I mention my Work history from 2001 onwards or from 2004? Since MSC-IT is evaluated by WES which finished in 2004 and NIIT diploma that i completed in 2001 is private certificate course.

3. In the Occupation sub-section of Work section on EE profile there is a question that asks when did I first became qualified to practice in this occupation, would it be 2001 or 2004?

So all the above question is based on whether My diploma (certificate course) is eligible to be posted on EE profile or not.

Please help me out to sort this, much appreciated, Thanks.

Regards
Vinod

You can mention all (if you want) or only the WES evaluated, for w/o WES you will mention no to the question for WES evaluation. In pull down mention it as "One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute"

2. Secondly based on the question above I started working from 2001 after completing my NIIT diploma the same year, so in the above case , in the "Work History" section do I mention my Work history from 2001 onwards or from 2004? Was your work full time?

3. In the Occupation sub-section of Work section on EE profile there is a question that asks when did I first became qualified to practice in this occupation, would it be 2001 or 2004?
After you attain your highest degree generally or depending on your NOC (job responsibilities)
So all the above question is based on whether My diploma (certificate course) is eligible to be posted on EE profile or not.

Ans - 2004 onwards is better.

3. In the Occupation sub-section of Work section on EE profile there is a question that asks when did I first became qualified to practice in this occupation, would it be 2001 or 2004?
Ans - 2004

Firstly, Thanks very much for your response. I have further questions on the answers you provided, sorry to stretch this.

Ans - You can mention both. Level of education would be "Bachelors Degree"

Further Ques? Would they consider this private education in this category?

2. Secondly based on the question above I started working from 2001 after completing my NIIT diploma the same year, so in the above case , in the "Work History" section do I mention my Work history from 2001 onwards or from 2004? Ans - 2004 onwards is better.

Further Ques? The work I started off in 2001 was also in IT and was relevant although NOC was 2172 as against 2175 for the rest of my career.

3. In the Occupation sub-section of Work section on EE profile there is a question that asks when did I first became qualified to practice in this occupation, would it be 2001 or 2004?
Ans - 2004

Further Question? If I can provide my NIIT diploma details then shouldn't i be able to say 2001? Also, will my profile be rejected for any mistake in filling out?

So all the above question is based on whether My diploma (certificate course) is eligible to be posted on EE profile or not.

Please help me out to sort this, much appreciated, Thanks.

Ignore the diploma - adds nothing but confusion to your application.

From 2010 onward. You get no points towards FSW eligibility for experience older than 6+ years. You get no points towards CRS score for experience older than 3 years. Any older experience is irrelevant to your application.

3. In the Occupation sub-section of Work section on EE profile there is a question that asks when did I first became qualified to practice in this occupation, would it be 2001 or 2004?
Ans - 2004

2001 is fine. Your profile will be refused by the system if you don't meet FSW eligibility.

So all the above question is based on whether My diploma (certificate course) is eligible to be posted on EE profile or not.

Hi Asivad / All,

I have few questions in creating express entry profile. Could you please provide your inputs.

Question:

1) While creating the profile : i have come across below question.

a) Is your spouse/common-law partner included in this application? What does this question mean.
Note: I am married and have children, should i say yes or no for the above question. Answering to this question as No, will it give me more points or is it incorrect to answer no.
Note: Just before this question i have answered that my marital status is married.

2) Education History:

1. I have done my Diploma after my 10th (SSC) which is 3 years course and then engineering (3 years, as i am a lateral entry).
Completed my WES evaluation, below is the report i got from WES.

Canada Equivalency Summary : Diploma (Two Years) and Bachelors degree (four years)

Diploma:
Credential: Diploma in Electronics and communication engineering
Canada Equivalency: Secondary School Diploma and diploma (two years)

Engineering:
Credential: Bachelor of engineering
Canada Equivalency: Bachelor Degree (four years)

My Question: Should i add 2 entries ie: 1) For Diploma 2) for Engineering and if Yes then what should i select my level of education for my diploma
and for my engineering.

Am i eligible for selecting "Two or more Certificates, diplomas, or degrees. one must be a program of three or more years" If yes where exactly i have to select this option in Diploma or in Engineering section.

If you answer No, your spouse won't get PR along with you. If you change this answer later, your points will be recalculated.

You can add 2 entries but you cannot choose '2 or more...' option as you don't have a post Bachelors diploma.

Hi Asivad Aac,

I wonder if my case is the same as this one.

Canadian Postgraduate Certificate-1 yr
BA- 4 yrs, has ECA report

In this case, is it ok that I choose "two and more..." under both of my entries?

I am confused now based on below information:

In CIC website These are the sections mentioned

Express Entry education factor

University degree at the Doctoral (PhD) level
University degree at the Master’s level
Professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession
Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees.
Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Secondary school (high school diploma)

When u Open Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees section, it shows

Important notice: One must be for a program of three or more years.

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Study Toward a Master's Degree

The highlighted sentence mentions any degree or diploma Plus any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

So the sections below are

Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Secondary school (high school diploma)

So not including secondary school / high school diploma

and then they have Put an OR for the list of items they gave below it like

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bache ..............................
..................................................

So my diploma comes under the section

Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute

College Diploma
College Diploma (two years)
Diploma (two years)
Two-year diploma
Two-year diploma in [name of discipline]
Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years)
Associate Degree
Associate of [Arts/Science] degree
Post-secondary Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Two-year post-secondary Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Two-year associate degree

Hi ASIVAD,

Many thanks. I just updated my profile which I think it probably be more reasonable?

I changed the level of education under BA entries with "One degree..." Basically means that when I got my BA, my level of education is "One degree...". But when I finished my postgraduate certificate, my level of education will be "Two or more...) The system is currently processing my updates, will see if my points is still stay the same.

Anyway, I do have a small question here, for my postgraduate certificate, my major is project management. Under the column of "Field of Study", does it belongs to "Business Commerce" or "Business, Management, Marketing, and related support services"

Choose the latter, doesn't really matter though.
