Hello Leon & Team,

Hope you guys are doing well.

As stated in my confirmation that I should have been in Canada by the 26th March, unfortunately I could not come because I got an internal bone bleeding in my leg and was under treatment for 2 month as it could cause a bone fracture. But I will enter canada on the 14th of April. As you stated before Leon I could get reported if i spent more than 1095 and in my case it will total to 1113days, that is 18 days excess.

If I show them my medical report and I got stuck because of my treatment, will they still get me reported??? Then when I should apply for PR renewal when my PR get expired in June 2015? Should I still for a complete year in MAY 2016 or it can be done once i completed the number of days to roud up to 730days????

Thank you
Daisy

Take your medical report with you. If the immigration officer wants to report you, you can say that you had planned to return in time for it but could not because of your problem and show them the report. If they don't report you, you should stay in Canada for 2 years straight without leaving before you attempt to renew your PR cards as only then will you meet the RO again. If you do get reported, you will have to appeal.

Hi kkill,

You became PR on 20 March 2009. I assume it was the day you became a landed immigrant. Your first 5 years as a PR ends on 19 March 2014. You must clocked min 730 days residing in Canada by the end of your 5-year PR period.

If you want to give yourself another 10-12 days buffer (which is wise) then you will have to clock 740-742 days as a Canadian resident before you renew your PR no later than 19 march 2014 in order not to lose any resident days prior to that date.
Thanks for commenting wahwah.

I have met the RO by 19 March 2014 but the numbers are quite close so I want to insure that I have a buffer of at least 10 days or so. Also I don't have any proof of being here for days I spent here when I originally landed so I can't prove to CIC that I was here (I deleted flights and hotel receipts long ago). I think it would be better to not renew my card for another couple of weeks as then I can prove my days here and also not have to count some days I was out of the country at the start of residency.

If I renew on say 10-April-2014, then the renewal period would be 10-April-2009 to 9-April-2014, correct?

Correct. If you have been a PR for more than 5 years, only the past 5 years are looked at.

Hi...

I too was wondering if my calculations are correct... reading the above comments seems confusing ... here are my dates, hope someone can shed light if my assumptions are correct... as I go in and out of Canada..

landed July 2010
PR expiring Aug 2015

Days stayed in Canada:
2010 - 24 days
2011 - 258 days
2012 - 206 days
2013 - 233 days
2014 - 9 days so far...
total 730 days

Does this mean I can apply for my renewal anytime between Jan 2015 to July 2015? or do I need to wait for July as this is my landing date? seems to be confused with the rolling theory basis...

Appreciate any comments...

Cheers

You can apply 6 months prior to card expiry date at which point you should ideally have 730 days or if you don't should be able to have 730 days by the 5th anniversary of your landing (as you have been a PR for less than 5 years).
