I want to ask if anybody ever had help from their MP that made a difference in their spousal sponsorship application. Or perhaps you had a bad experience with your MP?
Merci
I have a feeling they can actually influence an application. I think it matters how far they are willing to go for the applicants sake. However by and large most MP's really are indifferent to the cause of a sponsorship application. They can't influence or speed up the processing of an application. All they can really do is request status.

and if you're past the 12 month processing estimate time? they can do something?I was in contact with our local MP. and they said ' if you are within the 12 month processing estimate not much they can do '.
After signing some disclosure forms they were able to check the status and that's about it.

You all should give it a try! My package was never delivered by Canada post and my MP got involved until it was delivered and got confirmation from IRCC that it was delivered. I think it all depends on who your MP is.

What do you mean it makes no sense? Lol not everybody has the same MP. Before you make assumptions maybe you need to get facts. A tracking number was paid for and it was not updated after a month and more... the MP did get involved by calling Canada Post and escalating investigations until they said it was an error and delivered way after the 14 day mark. My MP also didn’t take Canada post word for it and reached out to IRCC who confirmed that it was eventually delivered! Don’t make assumptions...That makes no sense. An MP isn’t going to be able to track down your package with Canada post. What I assume you mean is that you hadn’t received AOR and you asked your MP to confirm that your application was received. Paying for a tracking number would have been much easier.

It’s why I’m thankful she assisted! Clearly some MPs just don’t care to assist. Can’t say for certain. Mine was great and I must acknowledge that. I won’t get her involved unless IRCC doesn’t contact me after my 1 yr. but they certainly respond to MPs.
Canada Post is not a non-governmental organization. It’s infact a federal government organization. Their employees are federal workers. Canada Post is a Crown corporation owned by the federal government. They are answerable to other government agencies or the MP in this instance. That is incredibly unusual because an MP has no influence on Canadapost. They were nice enough to call on your behalf but most MPs won't get involved In issues that involve non-governmental organizations. They essentially did what you could have done.
