After lots of work, I finally received the e-mail from Ottawa asked me for passport.
There was nothing wrong with sending it to Ottawa. Last Wednesday, the tracking number shows the mail has "successfully delivered" to me but I didn't receive anything. I contact Canada post right away, and two agents promised me that someone was going to investigate and call me Saturday. I couldn't wait them to call me back, so I called one more time Saturday. They give me the investigator's number, and I called from morning to night, he never picked up my phone. Then Friday was holiday and the weekends and Monday was holiday too. I called back on this Tuesday, there was a supervisor started the investigation for me till today. They made sure that my letter was not in their warehouse, the last thing they will try is to contact the mailman who delivered my letter and now is on vocation. I don't have faith in that now they can find it..
The email from Ottawa said that landing paper cant be extended. If I lost my passport and working permit and my landing paper, what should I do now?
One last complain, why does Ottawa have to let us use the worst shipping company in the world.

Wow they really lost your package, even with Xpresspost? Did you require a signature on the return envelope? You can check the signature online to see who signed it (who would sign&receive a package not addressed to them? >:()

I didn't know Canada Post is that unreliable ..

I don't remember if I asked for the signature option, but there was no signature. If I cannot extend the time of my landing paper, I am so fucked. I don't think I can get my WP, passport and a new landing paper in two months. If that happens, canada post ruined my 6 years in Canada even my life.

I just sent my docs today and there is a sticker they put to confirm if they we need signature.

If you opted for this, by tracking number you can see the pseron's name who received your package at CIC.

There is still hope that your package is retrievable. Maybe the mailman gets back they'll sort it out. Maybe the person received it will return it. Even if it got lost, you can still get a new passport from your country's embassy/consulate, and resubmit it for visa stamping and CoPR. Since you already sent your passport to them once, I think you've met their 60-day deadline on the passport request, right? You can certainly try to ask for more time due to this unexpected loss. I think they will consider your situation. It'll be a lot more trouble but what can you do..

Yeah, when you buy the Xpresspost envelopes, you should have asked for signature on delivery, at least for the return envelope as someone should be at your home to sign and receive it. It's just a couple of dollars extra, and by default the envelopes don't come with it.

Ya , I had experienced it before with Canada post , a pkg I was expecting was marked as delivered but it reached my home after 5 days . At times it is just a wrong Scan update . Keep tracking it with Canada post guys , hope you will receive it soon .

The thing is, by default(which I just know), u need to provide your WP to get a new passport from Chinese embassy and u need the passport to get your WP. But as you say, my situation is special, they may have resolutions. And about the 60-day deadline, that's what I worry the most, the 60-day deadline is for my landing(not for sending it to them). I must leave canada in 60 days with my passport and landing paper and come back which means I need to get all these documents ready in 60 days if the dont extend my time (and by default, the time cannot be extended). I am hopping that canada post can find it for me..Thanks for your suggestion

You don't need passport to get Work Permit, you only need a scan or copy of your passport. However, it should be valid for a reasonable amount of time, i.e. not close to expiry.

And I'm sure the Chinese embassy would consider this an exception. It is pretty tough to deny someone an important travel and identity document in a foreign country. Take a photocopy of your old work permit and other supporting documentation to prove you are not here illegally.

Are you sure about 60 days? You've seen your COPR?

60 days I've heard from my friend, she got the mail on the same day as the day I "successfully" got it. I dont have a copy of my passport, but I do have a photo of the first page (the page with my name photo passport number) which I took by my phone. In addition I have a SIN card, dont know if it helps, Ill contact immigration this morning. Thank you for your help.

Landing papers are valid for 1 year from Medical date. So i am guessing you still have around 8-9 months left on those papers.
But this is outrageous, how they misplaced it!

Where did you see the 60 day requirement? Can you provide source?

He heard it from a friend, which I think is a misunderstanding. The landing paper expires 1 year from medical, just like you said. So unless the OP did medical 10 months ago, he/she has more time than 60 days..

One of friend had similar experience, but Canada post managed get it in 3 weeks.but they didn't say how they got it back.

If you are staying in a Condo ,a common mistake they make is to put in wrong mail box , you check with others in your condominium.
