HELP!!! BOWP under CEC

Hi all,

I applied for PR under CEC - Feb 1, 2019 and had my AOR same day. My open-work permit is expiring in May 2019. I was wondering when is it the best time to apply for BOWP? should I wait for a month or two before applying? because some ppl that I knew applied for PR and got approved after 1 or 2 months. Should I wait until like end of March or April before applying or should I apply now? Also, if anyone can go through the online application for BOWP that would be helpful.

I think as long as you apply before your permit expires, that’s all that matters. I applied for mine 11 days before my PGWP expired and got approved

You should apply for BOWP when you have 3 months before your current permit expires, because it takes roughly 3 months to process. The only thing you lose is the $255 BOWP fee, but it means you can still leave Canada and change employers in between your permit expiring and PR. If your PR gets granted before your BOWP, you get a full refund of your BOWP fee. Hope the info helps

Did you apply online? I wanted to apply online but it gives me the work permit (in Canada) but on the document list it needs LMIA? Am I answering the questions wrong or something? please reply if you have any idea. Thank you so much for your help

Hello! I needed to apply for a bridging work permit to continue working while waiting for my PR application to be processed.
I contacted CIC and they said this type of application is only available on paper. There is no online option . Is this correct ?

Every time I try to answer the eligibility questions, the only time it takes me to the right application forms is when I say yes to this question:

"Have you been told by an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada office that you are approved in principle for permanent residence in Canada? "
Though, I am not sure if an AOR is could be considered as an AIP.

Yes, for EE only, the AOR is considered AIP.

In fact, contrary to what I said before the best time to apply for BOWP is a little more than 3 months before your current visa expires. That way if the BOWP gets rejected for any reason you still have time to fix what was wrong and apply again before your visa expires. For example there have been a bunch of people on this forum who got their BOWP rejected because they forgot to upload their express entry AOR, even though they were completely eligible to get BOWP.
