it gives authorization to someone to access your file such as a consultant, lawyer or your spouse in canada... for example my husband and i filled this out so i as his sponsor can call CIC on his behalf and i get email requests and updates from CIC.if you dont have this, then the applicant gets all the requests and such

I strongly suggest you fill it even if there is no consultant involved because without it, IRCC might refuse to answer the sponsor about the PA informations.

It’s up to you.

The Representative is the only person who is allowed to receive information during the application process if you appoint one.

If you don’t appoint one, both the principal applicant and sponsor receive emails during the application process.

We didn’t have representation. So we have access to everything, think it’s better to not have a representative as long as both the sponsor and principal applicants are regularly checking their emails and the CIC ONLINE TOOL (ECAS) and GCKEY. :)

Unless the principal applicant does not speak English...then maybe would be best to appoint a representative (yourself, the sponsor)
