Hi guys,
Lets post some more experiences here with medicals. I think this is one area that is less discussed on this forum but is very important part of the process.

1. Folks who have done their medicals and had some hiccups (minor / major) leading to delaying the process, please post your advice here.

2. Also just generally, lets discuss healthy eating habits for 3-4 weeks before the exam is due.

what if there is a trace amount of albumin and blood in the urine? Do i have to do urinalysis again? what if it does not clear up, will it cause for my inadmissibility? Is slight cardiomegaly but with normal ECG result would cause for rejection?

Hi
The Doctor will definitely ask: Do you have any tatoos ? during your medicals..
Will it affect or not is not known. Hence wait till your medicals are done (preferable)

It's been awhile since I've pursued this but once again I am seriously looking at going through the immigration process.  My wife and I are U.S. citizens and have good jobs, no criminal history, and are financially sound.  I am in decent health for my age (48) and on all other accounts I am sure we would have no issue with the immigration process.  But here is the bigee.  My wife is diabetic and has had a kidney transplant.  It's been five years since the transplant and there have been no issues whatsoever (outside of that she'll have to take immunosuppresants the rest of her life).  As for the diabetes, she wears a continuous reading meter and the issues of highs and lows seem to be well behind her now (wish they would've had this when she was a kid because it's the lack of treatment then that led to the kidney issues later).

So my question, is there any chance whatsoever that we'd even be approved?  I'd like to think that having good careers and resources and that we'd likely putting more into the system than we'd be receiving from it would merit something.  Millions of people already have diabetes and hers is manageable.  But I'm under the impression this is just a huge X and she would be given no consideration at all.  Does anyone have any knowledge of diabetics passing the medical?

Is Hepatitis C a problem (PCR Negative)?
It can be. Immigration calculates how much you will cost them. If they think you will cost them more than a certain amount which I believe is now $6,500 a year, you fail the medicals and can not get PR.

Okay and how would we know that for Hepatitis C. Is testing for Hepatitis C, B and A is part of medical examination in routine for everybody or it has some exceptions with the professions too?

It depends on the history, physical exam and profession. This is not routine for everyone!

What about a surgery done 3 years ago, a mass (fibroid) removal? The patient has completely recovered. Would a pathology report be sufficient? Anyone in the house who has undergone medical with the same issue?

I thought i would ask about the tattoos, this is what question 4 in the medical exams asks the doctors to indicate

Skin, Lymph Nodes, and Breasts (Inspect skin for cancer,
leprosy, surgical scars, and tattoos. Inspect neck, axilla, and groin
for lymphadenopathy)
Tatoos aren't a problem but you will have to pay for an additional blood test because you have one (my gf had to get this done). It's basically to make sure you don't have hepatitis as there is an increased risk of infection if you've had tatoos.

Edit: Opps didn't realise this thread was so old

What are the chances of person with thalassemia major getting a PR in skilled category?
I will have an offer letter before filing my application but I have none to sponsor me in Canada
