Any suggestions on health care ins for Toronto, due to arrive in July and need health insurance . Thanks :)

You likely have two options; purchase travel insurance from your current country of residence or purchase it from a Canadian travel insurance company. Some options for Canadian plans; Blue Cross, RBC Insurance; Manulife Financial Canada etc.

hi, for visitors to canada around 2 months, is it better to buy insurance at home which covers medical, hospital, lost of buggage, lost of passport etc or it is better to buy a canadian insurance plan for travellers?

just concern that if there is hospitalisation and medical expenses, the amt will be too great and you may not have money to cover on the spot.

Thanks

Arriving with PR :). So need insurance for first 3 months before entitled to OHIP. Thanks

My 2 cents would be just be careful first 3 months after you arrive, don't take up any risky activity (i.e skateboarding on the streets, juggling with knives, somersaulting from second floor balcony etc ). Why make private corporations rich? Having said that it dosen't mean you cant get sick by just staying home, totally up to you, you understand your body better and how it adapts to new environment.

Which one is better?
To take it form home country or better from Toronto after landing?
If there is any claims is it better to do the formalities with in house companies in Canada, so better to take form Canada?

I used Blue Cross Canada and didn't think their coverage was very straightforward. They reimburse the full amount of a claim....up to the amount that the government would pay for a citizen getting equivalent care. It was a problem because when you go to a clinic, the prices for visitors can vary depending on the discretion of the doctor. I filed one claim with them and they reimbursed us something like 34$ of 150$.

I switched from BCC to Manulife, and supposedly the only instance they do not reimburse the full amount is if you don't call ahead to notify them of your visit. I think we're also paying a bit less for Manulife than we were for BCC.
