Health Care Coverage for new PR Immigrants(Parents) to Alberta

Hello Everyone, My parents are moving to Alberta next week. I have heard that Alberta Health Care Insurance coverage is provided day 1 of landing. It takes 3 months to get a card. My question is how to get refund if one needs to go to the medical clinic till we get the card. ? I wonder if someone having knowledge in this area answer this question. Thanks.

You basically pay for that out of pocket and you could get tax credits. But that money is lost, you are not covered. Basically pay for an insurance, otherwise if you need to go to the hospital would be more than paying those 3 months...
