Hi, We came as a PR this year on March 2011 and living in Ontario. I received the Health card exactly 3 months after we landed. Now my wife who is not a primary applicant, left this country to her home country for a visit after completing 6 months stay in Canada. How long she can stay in her country to retain the health card?. We are living in Ontario state. Please help on this.

Thanks. I read that. I have a question.. what is Primary place of residence is still in Ontario? Do I need to do anything specifically for that?

We landed in Toronto in June 2011 and stayed there for 12 days, before we returned back to India. Now we are planning to go back to Toronto in Jan/Feb 2012. From what dates we will be covered in OHIP, as we might need maternity care in May 2012.

Any information on this will be highly appreciated.

Regards

You will qualify for health care three months after you return in Jan/Feb 2012.

Thank you so much. So that will be so close than. Do we have any mandatory stay for avlialing the medical cover even after availing the benefits........like mandatory stay over the period of year.

In Ontario you have a mandatory stay of at least 5 months in the first 6 months and after that it is 6 months every year.
