Have to take an academic leave...what will happen to my student visa?

Perhaps someone will be able to reply to my question....looked the whole Internet for it but did not find anything

I am currently enrolled in 2-year post degree program in one of Canadian colleges. I will have to take 1-year academic leave to go back to work, simply because I do not have enough money to pay for my 2nd year tuition :( Since I am not eligible to work in Canada, I will have to work somewhere abroad.

My question is: what will happen to my student visa and student permit? Will they be cancelled? If yes, will it be ok to re-apply for a student visa outside of Canada after a year? Or is there a great chance that it will be denied?

Just for a note, I applied and get my current visa from a Canadian Embassy in UAE.

brother as you are already in Canada now, i think the international office at your college/university could answer this question in better way! Or, you can probably ask the canadian immigration department about your case.... to me, this is the best thing to do..they can give you 100% authentic information.

goodluck!

Hi,

1. First check the maximum permissible time to complete your course. For example, a 2 year MBA course holds maximum of 6 years completion time.

2. Consult your school if they allow deferral.

3. Thn check for how long your current visa/permit is valid. It's better if you intend to come back within the specified visa duration.
