Have been asked to provide "observations". What is this?

Very helpfully, we have been asked to upload a replacement pair of documents. One being simply listed as "Observations" with no further information provided. We are assuming that this means the passport page but we are not 100% positive. Any thoughts? Thanks.

All it says is "Observations"? There is generally a "Remarks/Observations" page in passports, but I'm not 100% confident that is what is wanted here.

It is very frustrating I must say! We have also been asked to provide an electronic copy of the imm5409 form, signed and notorised, so our other working theory is that the observations request is for a bundle of evidence documents like shared bank account statements and so on but if that was the case, why not call it... Evidence!? Very annoying.

They would call that "proof of relationship" or something similar.

This is perhaps one of the cases where a call to the IRCC Call Centre may actually help, but I cannot guarantee that it would. You may get a weird or incorrect answer from them, but it may not hurt to try.
