Hi everyone
it has been a while since i have posted , my wife is currently in Havana doing her medical exam :) ! I will be traveling to Guardalavaca next week to pick up the police background check and our marriage certificate and getting her to sign odds and ends in the application then finally returning home to send it off to immigration Canada. Im pretty much done the application , i just need to organize it all and also find somewhere to print pictures. Can anyone advise me on what the best method to print/ add pictures is . I have read that some people posted 4 on each page and then labeled them.. also where did you guys go to print ?

also i wanted to add that i found this manual after digging around in the CIC website and it shows the process the immigration officers go through when looking at our application and contains so much great information on what they look for and what can delay you etc.. def worth a look

w w w .cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf

anyways have a great day everyone !

I just printed off pictures at home on my computer on regular paper because that way I got just printed off screen shots of my photos in my iPhone so I could put lots of pictures per page and write all over the page to lab
E whatever I wanted

7 Month wait! tip to toe! Good Luck EVERYONE!
Mr. Keilani!

I will make this quick, although my process was a little over a year ago - I do remember talking to a rep from the CIC (they do NOT want pictures stapled or bound in binder!)

What I did (*because most my pictures where digital anyways) I created WORD DOCUMENTS WITH 6 PICS PER PAGE, WITH QUICK DESCRIPTIONS, THAN PRINTED IN COLOUR...

I USED A BULLDOG CLIP TO HOLD IT ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE I SUBMITTED OVER 500 PHOTOS... (lots of pages)

ANYWAYS... ALL THOSE PICTURES ARE NOT IMPORTANT I KNOW PEOPLE THAT GOT QUICK IMMIGRATION STATUS AND ONLY SUBMITED 50 OR SO! :)

anyways best of luck --- if you need help feel free to private message me, I've helped a few people with the applications! :)

regards,
dory

I have pretty much the same timeline as both of you. I received a reply email from Havana last week saying they are awaiting my interview date... However, that email seems to be a common one and the wait can be months from now apparently. So..... Doesn't help much.

Applied July 11,2014 approved Oct 17,2014, sent to Havana Jan 6, 2015 so 7 months in Havana. Total 13 months. My MP has advised me after they contacted Havana we will have an interview no date of course so I just made reservations to go to spend 2 weeks with my husband in Sept to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary.

After reading some of the comments I'm starting to think that using an immigration lawyer was a real waste of money. It doesn't seem to make a difference at all. I really feel like one we start strafe 2 ( file in Havana) our future is at the mercy of the person handling your file. And it's a scary thought.

You are absolutely correct Immigration Lawyers have absolutely no jurisdiction over the process whatsoever. Most of them don't even have much experience regarding the process so I have been told. I certainly wouldn't waste money on hiring one. The people who work for immigration make the decisions both in Canada and Havana. I was told this my my Member of Pariliment.

My application has been in Havana since Nov 27 2014 it has been almost nine months and my husband has not recieved a call yet. I know everybody wants to be with their spouse but dont count on havana to move any quicker!! My mp called two months ago and was only told that they were looking at his criminal background check at the time. He was at the embassy three weeks ago and was only told by the receptionist that i had to pay the rprf so i did. We have not heard a word yet so it should be within the next couple of weeks that we hear something our ten months is approaching soon!! Just be patient.

hey thanks for the replies and support everyone

quick question im going this week to pick up the medical exam papers , wedding certificate and police certificate . Now when i bring these home do i need to get these translated and notarized to send with my application or can i just send them as is ?

also i see that the majority here are women sponsoring men to come to Canada , and it seems that the men sponsoring women to come seem to have better luck and shorter wait times, does anyone else see a correlation with this or is just me ?

I don't see anything to indicate that gender had anything to do with the time line however children may make a difference. Just saying it may as it makes the relationship seem more genuine. Make sure you get the receipt for the medical, and the copy with picture on it as you will need to send that with the application. Keep copies of the application for your records in case it is lost. You do not need to translate or notarize the medical as the Doctor sends all the info by computer to immigration. Wedding certificate, birth certificate and police certificate need to be stamped by Canadian Foreign Affairs ,notarized and translated .

Great advise to photocopy everything!!!! My application was lost in Toronto! !! My lawyer had to send my file again at my cost!!!! I wasn't notified until about six weeks after they lost it. My husband should be here by now if that did not happen.
