Hello everyone
I am currently working on getting all the documentation ready to sponsor my husband in Cuba. A friend suggested this website and I am really glad to "meet" and be able to interact with others who went or are going through the same nerve-racking process as I am.

I met my husband ten years ago in Cuba. We dated but I left for Spain with my family. It was tough to be apart but we were very young (20 and 23) and we eventually started dating other people. But our email communication never stopped, although it did wane until we decided to meet again this year.

I wonder if anyone else has a similar situation where their relationship was interrupted for years; and whether the sponsorship process has gone smoothly?

Ok. So I sent a covering letter, a word document with the full explanation of the dates they were asking for, and I sent the original PDF of the Schedule A.

I sent them to. The "enquiry"-im email listed on the website, and also sent it via the case specific enquiry for on the Cic Havana site.

Received the same generic response from both.

Info added to file. You will not receive a response if....blah blah blah.

Lets hope we hear something from them tomorrow so I don't have to make a trip to the embassy with the documents.
And KJG is right, I'm so happy I received this email today, and not while I was in Havana, no I'm hoping we will get the call next week!!!

Hello everyone. One little issue before they will issue the visa; but this is fixable. He needs to provide one more birth certificate then they will issue him his visa. Of course I told him to take a copy with him, but he said they didn't ask me to bring it". Men.......

So it's a yes once they receive this. They did give him back the whole package which is good. Officer asked lots of questions. Even the photos who was who.

He's on his way back to Cardenas now; I suggested he fax the birth certificate in. Now I'm wondering if he took it in person; they will issue the visa then.

Nothing was said about the medical so????

perhaps you are beautiful in Canada, but with children and not sure what you age is I imagine it would be much easier for you to find 'love' in a poor country like Cuba, than a rich socially alienated society like Canada. Also from experience the women in Latin America are far more beautiful than most westerners. In Cuba they are mostly drawn to tourists purely for financial and immigration reasons. If they had a decent standard of living I doubt they would give white westerners a second look.

One thing I've also noticed is that despite Cuba having such high educational standards, those hustling to get out usually can't read or write. I am British, but writing in Spanish is of a much higher standard than most Cubans I know. They usually end up doing music or running salsa club nights.

Good luck to you, but believe me they will do anything it takes for as long as necessary to get out.
