Thanks KJG!! My husband is in Cuba. We have been married a year last April. It took us so long to file the application because our papers for authentication in Cuba were lost in transition for 6 months. I have lived there a total of 7 months off and on, returning home to work, save money and go back. Been a rough 2 years!! Can't wait to know that I can sponsor him. It's been agonizing. Glad I joined to meet other people who know how I feel. Family and friends say they understand, but they have no idea really what it's like having politics hold your destiny in the palm of thier hands. We have begun building a life there too, for worst case scenarios. Congrats on your interview!! When you get back you will have to prep me for whats to come. Thanks again!!! I too am worried about luggage. I heard they are charging in the Cuban airports, your last post about your friend going with no problems eased my mind, but definatly let me know! There is a rumor they are starting to charge over 66 lbs... I saw an article in the New York TImes. mMy husband is investigating it now.

Hey DDG.....oh yes I had a very stressful agonizing week over this about 2 or 3 weeks ago........but after much investigation...internet creeping and speaking to people going in and out of Cuba it seems that they are targeting the Cuban Nationals bringing stuff in from Miami, Ecuador, any of those places....as well as tourist who try to bring in more than "personal use" electronics......so it seems to be as long as you are not bring in 3 or 4 dvd players....cell phones..etc. they are leaving the tourists alone.......seems the consensus is that the Cuban government while encouraging self-employment do not want people to have articles/items to help them make money.....i.e. supplies for a manicurist/pedicurist.......clothing.....palabra supplies......so I think my suitcase of gently used clothing, soap, cream should be ok!!

That is awesome that you have been able to spend that much time in Cuba I am very envious!!!!

We were married Feb 17th
Package submitted April 3rd (was ready before but his abuela died 2 weeks after our wedding, so I went back for the funeral, then also had to change some paperwork because he lived with her)
Submitted April 3rd, approved July 13th
Patiently waiting word from Havana....
I know it doesn't always happen but I'm hoping we will follow KJG timeline roughly lol

And I posted wrong, the letter was mailed to me on July the 9th....

It would be nice to hear something by the weekend....
I wasn't planning to go until we got a call, but I have to go down the end of October for some religious things, and was hoping it would all coincide with one another.
At least I can fly into Varadero or Havana so I'm not too concerned with booking ASAP,
But my OCD personality does not like the unknown of dates, times etc!!!

I hear you on that one....it was driving me crazy not knowing when I was going back down....I like to plan, organize and arrange...

Well a friend who applied at the end of March her husband got called 3 weks ago for an interview for today actually......so there must have been some interview cancellations or date changes because they got called 2 weeks after us and in 1 week before us.....and she said her app was received March 31....so your next!!!

Omg that's so crazy exciting!
I swear, I can't sleep, can't concentrate, everytime my phone goes off I freak out, everytime he calls or texts my heart skips even more beats than normal lol

So true, not sure if its better or worse to know that you are a month ahead of me lol

I tell people, " no nothing yet, but the girl a month ahead of me....blah,blah,blah"
Now to here about someone a few days ahead is even worse....lol

actually they put up interview for Oct 1.......I wanted to email them and say no it has been changed to the 4th but my husband said no don't worry....well I have been......so on Monday I told him to call.....he did they were suppose to call back they haven't so now I am mad because it is now Friday...and I told him he better call and double confirm....and get the lady's name this time...........sorry for my rant....can you tell I am stressing......

When it comes to Cuba I would tell him to go to the Embassy in person on Monday.
