Has anybody here had lymph node TB or any form that doesn't affect the lungs?

I had lymph node tuberculosis about 2 to 3 years back and was fully cured by March 2014 after taking the treatment for 6 months. My lungs or any other body part did not get affected at all. So chest X-rays were always clear. Thankfully it wasn't a form of TB that can easily spread to others. No coughing. No symptoms whatsoever.

My question is, should I disclose this to the panel physician? Is it better to be clear about it and not hide this fact? Do you guys think this will affect my immigration application?

Hi drpilot. Thanks for your input. But my main concern is, is it ever a good idea hiding something? especially something serious concerning your medical history?? Of course, it was cured. And it very likely will not show up as any scarring in a chest x-ray simply because my lungs were not affected at all. But I'm just not sure if I would be shooting myself in the foot here by disclosing this or if I would be risking them finding out later with possibly worse consequences???

I am not an expert, but I am a Canadian and I would hope that all people wishing to come to Canada would be honest in all their dealings with immigration. I know of an instance where someone cheated their TB screening and came into the country with TB. They went to live in a house with many small children and they all had to be treated with 6 months of antibiotics. Now your case is different. Treated, cured and healthy. Not a threat to the health of others. Be grateful. Be honest. Put your mind at rest and be truthful. All the best with your journey.

I second that advice. Never a good idea to lie on your application especially when there is nothing to hide.

Thanks a lot, Pippin and Asivad, for your opinions on this. I myself agree with you both and will be disclosing this. After all, it did not affect the lungs. And I was fully cured. There is nothing to hide.

Also, is there any additional test that they ask you to do other than Chest x-ray, because your history says neck TB? I have a similar case and hence these questions before going for medical.

If you're fully cured and you can prove it with a specialist doctor's report or letter stating the same, then you don't have to undergo any special tests or anything. Your medical gets cleared very soon. My chest X-ray was clear and I submitted a letter from the specialist who treated me. That was sufficient for me. My medical shows as "Passed" in my profile.

I think you should be very clear with the physician and the X-Ray will be done anyway and will be the very important parameters to decide whether your case is in anyway special.

It will always show in your X-ray in the future, and CIC physician will recommend you to have tuberculosis tests, anyways you have to go through that tests, Canada is very strict on this kind of infectious diseases, so I would recommend you to do every part of medicals legally...!!!

Thanks for your response. Since mine was a Neck TB (Lymph node) which doesn't spread and doesn't leave any scar on lungs, "will they take any other tests other than Chest x-ray"? And if so, should I retake the tests all again in 6 months time rather than in 12 months? because of this TB history?. Chest xray will always be a pass for me as there wont be any scar due to past Lymph node TB.

Hello everyone, I had applied for PR and I got my medical passed.I have not received request for passport yet.I had lymph node TB which was successfully treated,thats why I passed the medical exam.Now I am again having symptoms of lymph node TB after passing the medical exam, If I have TB again, will CIC know about it and delay my approval of PR.I am in canada already on my work permit.
