Have you considered withdrawing and re-apply? applications take 5-6 months these days. This is really unacceptable, you should contact your MP and call CIC to demand an answer.

Omg I can't believe this my eye popped out when I saw your time line this is unacceptable and unfair, where does equality stand,,, how is CIC treating people equally if some have to wait for more than 4 years,,, its un fare and honestly unbelievable,,, you need to take action... don't just stay steal and do nothing,,, call them every single day,,, talk to your MP,, write them letters, request ATIP every other month,, just don't give up .
I couldn't sleep after reading your post... anyways your not alone and don't give up... Keep on fighting for your right of becoming a Canadian.

No I disagree. They do do jo longer blindly issue RQS, instead they issue CIT0520 and ask for specific documents. They days were CIC would just blindly issue RQS to people are over and CIT 0520 are easy to process.

Because a withdrawal of an application is like an auto trigger of a new RQ for the second application. The cycle will go again. After this wait I believe the best thing is to wait. My own opinion.

So I wanted to share some news with you guys. I received my oath date a couple days ago in the mail. The letter is dated March 10th and the oath is scheduled for March 23rd. They are still trying to "catch people out" by not updating the online status tool and sending letters as close to the date as possible. Regardless I'm elated to have finally received my oath letter over 3 years and 3 months later.

Some interesting notes:

  • My home office was supposed to be St. Claire my file spent most of its time rotting there and I wrote my test there. However I'm being told to go Mississauga for the oath. Maybe they are shuffling people around due to excess capacity. 33km drive but I'll do it.
  • CIC agents told me two weeks prior to my oath letter that my file had been transferred to my "home" office of Mississauga so I should expect an oath letter soon. My understanding is it was transferred in early February so perhaps if you are in the same situation you can expect 1-2 months for an oath letter from that point.
  • I've probably misplaced my record of landing. It was in a desk at my office and appears to have gone missing during a move. Some cursory research suggests this isn't a big deal but I'll update after my oath to let you know. Oath letter states I need to have it with me along with other "original documents". Apparently it takes up to 6 months to replace. I'll file an application for a replacement on Monday.

Congratulations! it appears that CIC is finally slowly looking into the old RQ applications. As for CIT0520 recipients we could be talking about an additional 4 to 6 months wait time as it does not appear anyone that received cit0520 has been scheduled for oath.
