Hi there,

Is it acceptable by the CIC to have some handwritten notes on the Citizenship Form (CIT 0002), such as, 'Letter of Explanation enclosed' or 'See Page blag blah blah'. Will CIC return your application if you put such notes (not too many). The reason I am asking this is because I know a person who applied for a 'Visitor Visa' for Canada and his application was returned or was required to resubmit it because of his/her notes (I think he/she mentioned on the form ' See Passport XXXXX'.

Thanks and have a good one.

Actually....why don't you call CIC HelpLine and ask them directly - but in a tactful way.

Something like....if there are just very few brief hand-written notes which do not block or obscure any of the printed text on my CIT application.....and basically are there more to help the reviewer easily locate this or that etc. would that be a problem...I am guessing not but just wanted to hear your advice

If you put it in a friendly. I am genuinely seeking your help tone....I am sure they will be helpful....in general they are courteous and helpful...though they have their limitations on some fronts

See what they say....and please let us know too ! Thx :)

and actually do two diff calls on some day or differend days - so you can see what the another person/agent says.

..you don't have to say you spoke to someone before on the same question - that way you get an unbiased response.... Good Luck ! ;)

I did it before. All forms were filled up by hand writing. I put extra note on it too.

Actually when I applied for my PR, when I called CIC they told me to write my explanantions if I have missing address on the side of the sheet.. I called her told that I am missing one address for this this reasons and she said write that words exactly there on the side of the sheet what I told her... Also I wrote every where I used extra sheet like family details (for PR) I wrote a not on side saying " See additional sheet".. I am not sure about citizenship form

us2yow,
Calling the CIC officers frequently actually do have impact on the processing times for all of us including you and sep15.
Especially when we advice each other to call twice on a single simple subject.

I don't think so , call centre agent is not a citizenship officer he just had an access to the cic system and had no impact on the process of your application , this is service provided by cic and we as taxpayer have the right to ask about our applications or any thing related to the cic, if those workers at the call centre have some authorities to process the file I will not call them because they are officer but in fact they are not.

Somehow you don't think that calling the agents twice a day on a single subject is not a waste of our tax money?
We need to give chance to each other for genuine enquiries because of the limited resources CIC have.

I put notes like that on my PR application to try to make it easier for the officier to know where to find information. Not sure if it's different with the citizenship app, but my PR app went through just fine.

My 5 cents :

If you don't feel comfortable writting on the form itself, write on post its and stick them next to the question :)
