"Build a stronger Alberta
May 22, 2007
Expanded program will help increase immigration flow
More nominations and a wider range of occupations eligible
Edmonton... An expanded Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) could help reduce the province's labour shortage, by allowing employer applications for newly graduated international students and workers in the transportation, manufacturing and tourism sectors.
The program, administered by the Alberta government in conjunction with the federal government, began as a pilot project in 2002 and processed about 100 nominees. Now a permanent program, PNP is expected to handle about 2,500 nominations this year and more in the coming years."
Now you will buy what I said earlier. My calculation was correct. AINP nominates max. 2500 per year. So, 700-800 H1B SRS per year. i.e. around 60 nominations per months.Just fyi, they are not putting that much resources in it and YES, they are doing it for 650 odd folks. I wont expect more than 10 employees working on overall AINP deal because they just have to nominate 2500 people. It is AINP not CIC...
Infact, 2500 was a target, they just nominated 1600.

I DON'T BUY THAT! AINP IS NOT GOING TO WASTE THAT MUCH OF MONEY AND RESOURCES FOR 650 ODD FOLKS.
looks like they are receiving at least 700 applications per month. Thats why they revised the occupation list.
I heard somewhere - not confirmed info- that, as per Federal Alberta treaty, overall Alberta can nominate 2000 applications per year. That includes 3 categories -family, alberta employed and H1B SRS. So in case of H1B SRS they may nominate 650 people per year max. Same 650 for Family. Lots of people apply for family stream, nominations are limited. This can be confirmed by the processing times of family stream which is like 2 years.
Also, we have seen that they nominate max 50-60 people per month, which again is around 650/year. People currently applying wont see a decision at least by middle of 2010 but due to modified occupation list applications might reduce and things can turn around faster.
