I absolutely agree with you, if they noted anywhere on their website or on the form that you will never be able to bring your parents to the country where you immigrated, I would not have made the decision to settle here... but it's too late now... Im settled here paid 100s of thousands of dollars in taxes..... gained citizenship, and this is my home country. After 15 years of living in this country I give myself right to bring my biological parents here and enjoy same family rights like my fellow Canadians and other immigrants who have families here.. I also dont think it's fair that for certain countries they are allowing parents, grandparents, sisiters, brothers, and half siblings to immigrate here, in 6 months they have PRs in their hands, most of them dont work, they benefit from healthcare that I have contributed my taxes to... and other government benefits... They walk in streets, shop, laugh, and enjoy life (during regular work hours) with their immediate and extended family... and get free money from taxpayers while I work 10-hour shifts.... and they vacation to their home country where they claim refugee status from.... for holidays there will be 10-20 people celebrating together at the dinner table (if they bring grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, half-siblings, count how many adults there are and they likely have spouses and children).. while I have to sit alone with my daughter with no family in Canada....unfair and unjust...Sadly government has confused people by allowing parents to visit for such long periods of time and giving extensions easily (this may change). The supervisa program was never meant for parents to permanently relocate to Canada which should have been stressed. Now you have many families who viewed this as a permanent move discovering it was not. Canada should be upfront with the reality that many will never be able to sponsor their parents so people can make informed decisions about immigration. Like international students many parents will find there is no pathways to remain in Canada legally.
Check your inbox plsI also submitted on July 17 , which date of July you submitted ? Thanks
To be fair Canada never promised that parents could obtain PR. If you arrived 15 years ago it was even more difficult to secure PR for parents at that time. Securing PR for parents is not possible or very difficult in many countries. Most countries allow immigration to combat an ageing population and/or worker shortages. Not sure how you think that many people are able to secure PR for extended families. Just not the case for decades and even sponsoring a small amount of extended family takes many years and requires significant funds. Do take issue with those who seem to abuse the asylum system and agree that if people are suddenly able to return to their home countries for extended periods of time after Canadian citizenship that should be investigated. That doesn’t change the fact that Canada has an ageing population and a shortage of healthcare workers and a large immigrant population. There was never a feasible way to absorb all the parents/grandparents wanting to move to Canada. Even if you were born in Canada to parents who have Canadian citizenship many do not live in the same area of Canada or even in Canada so many Canadians do not live near family either. We live in a global world where people do not remain in the home communities for life.I absolutely agree with you, if they noted anywhere on their website or on the form that you will never be able to bring your parents to the country where you immigrated, I would not have made the decision to settle here... but it's too late now...
