I came to this forum very confused by then I saw your post and it rocked my day,
Ok now sir this is my story,
I'm Thameera from Sri Lanka and i'm 20 years old,
currently I have a diploma in edexcel assured "Web Engineering" and currently working in a local web designing company (lets say I have 6 month of experience),
i'm dreaming about coming to Canada and working in there,
I have two questions,

1.Can I find a job in a web development company in Canada with that little qualifications ??

2.I'm currently doing BCS (british computer society exams) and hope to continue it after I came to Canada, so is BCS a validated qualification in your country ???

Im an Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) with 11+ years of experience in Hardware Networking field with MCSA & CCNA Certifications, will Migrating to canada in june 2015, How easy is to get an IT job there, do i have to start applying now (from Bangalore -INDIA) or when i land in canada. pls advice

Hii ,

Me and my husband also working in IT industry a MNC, having around 4.8 yrs of experience. I am into Automation Testing (QTP, Selenium) and my husband into performance( Load runner, Silk performer). We have just started the PR process for Canada and going to file application soon. Well, my plans are after getting PR, applying jobs from India. But, after reading some of the posts, looks like it is not easy to look for jobs while being in India. The thing is we dont want to quit the current job as it would be very risky. That day i spoke to a guy who recently immigrated to Canada. He said , since we work in a MNC, we can ask the company to transfer us to their branch in Canada. Is this possible?

start applying only when you are physically available there in canada in coming 10-15 days.
if the company call you, tell them straight forward that you are in your home country and can come for subsequent rounds in canada

first find the immigration programme that you will make you land in canada as resident/with work permit.

YOur question are valid but secondary!!

Impresso, thanks for starting such a nice discussion. Recently got approval for my PR. I see you are working in VMWare. You mentioned that Cloudcomputing is much in demand there. I am presently working as Infrastructure Architect in India with a leading MNC which is into cloud computing. I work on cloud integration projects. Would like to know what further can be done to get into the job market there. I am additionally working on certifications related to cloud i.e IBM certification and VMWare VCP.

Any thoughts? Anything additional I should do to prepare? Thanks in advance for your kind reply!

I found work with these steps
1. Updated my linkedin profile - got recommendations from my peers and managers
2. Updated my resume for the job I am applying - Applied on workopolis, indeed and moster.ca. Also linkedin jobs and glassdoor jobs.
3. Connected with recruiters in my field through linkedin. Called them. met some of them. Talked with them.
4. I got calls from some companies directly (through linkedin and workopolis)
5. Connected with all my friends in Canada
6. Connected with members in my community - church

Try everything possible, one of these should land you with an interview call. And Good luck!
