hy,

I have bachelor degree in IT, and about 6 months of experience in web design and network administration, and I will have finished CCNA course, and I hope certificate. I am in process of sponsorship by my dad. I wont when I go to Canada to work in any company as IT person, mostly on network and system administration.

my question is can I find any IT yob (preferably not programming) that I can live in canada independently.

thanks.
Yes, thus it will be a little hard, but doable.

Programmers are the most liked kind in IT... and anyone who can avoid coding do so, so you can expect the market to be saturated. But there are jobs out there.

Heyyaa.....
I am an IT professional with the following profile:
8+ yrs Exp. on RTOS, C/C++, Linux, Embedded. Have worked with US based MNC's and German MNC.

My PR visa is under processing stage (submitted to consulate @ start of Aug under NOC:2173)

I do know that it is hard to find a job.
But still, anyone have any idea about the job scope in IT firms on a profile like mine ??
if so, it would be of great help to get an idea for myself.... :)
Programming and System Administration is an open field - you may still have to gain some Canadian Experience before you can attain a job of your own satisfaction. All the best.

Hi All,

I would also like to ask from your end, I have been working for more than 5 years in the field of software/hardware testing (manual and automation) and now holds a support position here in middle east.
I have applied in the current fswp 2014 last 5th of May 2014. I still have no news if it has been credited in the CC and no email received if it has been denied or not.

Hope you can shed a light on me on this one, I am also checking for the minimum wage for IT and how much should I be asking to live comfortably. :D
thank you so much!

Hello,
I am IT Engineer having work experience in Maximo and Automation in INDIA and UAE. Total experience is more than 3 years.
I am presently living in UAE and planning to migrate to CANADA.
To apply for IT jobs in CANADA, do I need to come to CANADA to search for jobs or can I apply from UAE and when I get one, I apply for the process. Also, if you can give me some idea about how much time it takes to get the Visa for CANADA.

Really looking forward to any help I can get.

Thanks in advance.

You can apply from the UAE.

It is about 6 months (?) of course after you get the job. Plan for a full year even though that's more than enough for most countries.

Better to post your inquiry in the FSW subforum.

Minimum wage for IT? Well you must apply for entry levels. That is somewhere between 45-55 k a year. (Your 5 years barely count and support isn't something in strong demand, virtually anyone here can do it).

Does work experience in a multinational company (which has presence in Canada as well) in their London, UK office in IT / programming field put more weight on the work experience when searching job in CA?

Jalex is right minimum wage for IT on entry level is 45k, Senior IT salary is around 80k. Your experience does carry across it depends in which country you gained that experience as mine was recognized and I went from 30k through a internship program to earning 91k in being in this country for 3 months now.

First thing first you need to land here and then start cold calling major companies etc

Yes 100% it does put weight on it. For example the new CEO for Rogers is from the UK. If his experience was not considered he would not of gained that position being his first job in Canada.

Having British experience has major benefits specially working within Inner London
