Does anyone applied this Bridging Open Work Permit ?

in what category we need to extend for wife and kid? is wife eligible for Open work permit?

I have a rather technical question.

Does the new Online Application process on CIC website work from a Mac? Particularly OSX 10.8 with any browser? I keep getting a "Javascript blocked" message and then redirected to a "timeout" page right after I successfully login with my CGKey. JS is not blocked and this happens on any browser I use.

The old website didn't have this issue so I'm wondering whether it's a change on my side or they just ignored Mac users.

For the bridging work permit do we have to provide any job offer letter from the employer or any work related documents?

looks like there are lot open questions on bridging open wp. The info on CIC is just talking about who are eligible to apply? but doesn't have information on how to apply it. what documents to be provided ? how to renew dependents status along with this open WP

whoever applied this open WP. please share your experiences..

You need to look closer. It's under

Bridging Open WP Issuance

Applicants must submit an Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710], indicating that they are applying for an Open Work Permit.

It's in this page:

As shells has pointed out, all the information is available - you just need to look for it!

I am planing to apply this week for the Bridging Open Work Permit, as my pgwp expires Feb. 12, 2013. I have two questions:

1. the Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710) needs to be filled only by the principal applicant or both (applicant and spouse)?

2. For the bridging work permit do we have to provide any job offer letter from the employer or any work related documents?

For the 1st question I believe its needed an application filled for each individual including spouse if he/she want to extend her work permit as well. Not sure though...

this is what I found on the website:

"This form must be completed by each person who wants to apply for an extension of their work permit or change conditions of their stay in Canada, including applying for an initial work permit"

Hi, I just sent my application for the bridging open work permit yesterday.
I wanted to apply online to save time, but the system kept sending me error message...

I filled out the Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710), provided documents as specified in the Document checklist, together with employment reference, and a print-out of AOR email.

My work permit is expiring on Feb 01, 2013. So let's see.

I also got a positive LMO but I don't want a closed work permit, as I'm thinking of getting a part-time job on the weekends. So I'm saving my LMO in case they reject me on this open work permit extension.

Let's see how this turns out.

I phoned CIC just now, I was advised to apply for the bridging open work permit as soon as possible since the processing time can take around 3 months and my pgwp is expiring in less than 3 weeks. They said there is no need for any employment letter as the wp is "open" and YES WE NEED TO COMPLETE THE [IMM5710] FOR EACH APPLICANT WHO IS REQUESTING AN OPEN WORK PERMIT, so we will need to fill one application for spouse or common-law as well.
Good luck to everyone!

do you guys think there is difference if i have post graduate work permit, because it s saying in CIC a valid work permit.

So after the expiry date of current work permit we are on the implied status until the new one is issued?

Correct! As long as you submit your application for extension prior to the expiry date of your work permit.
