Grandparent Sponsorship Income Question

Hi Everyone,
I received an invitation to sponsor my parents. I meet the income requirement for the year 2020, however, I am short of $2500 for the year 2019 and $1500 for 2018.
Is there any way I can change my tax returns? Does child tax benefit is counted as income?

We are a family of four (Me, my wife, and 2 kids), if I sponsor my parents the total members will be 6 for the income requirement right?

Nothing. There is no penalty. You can try applying but you will lose your application fee when it is rejected.

When submitting the form for interest to apply they had a section that asked you to declare that you have checked and met the income requirements. Did you tick that off?

You should have checked your income requirement before submitting your invite request You have robbed someone else their potential spot in the 10000 cap.

You cannot sponsor 1 of your 2 parents unless they are divorced.

No - you can't. Either you have enough income for both of your parents or you can't sponsor anyone.

You cannot sponsor 1 of your 2 parents unless they are divorced.

And to add YVR, an unaccompanied parent still need to be counted towards family size lico requirement whether you only want to sponsor only one parent unless they are officially divorced or widowed.

We are going to see nothing but these types of posts, people taking spots away from people that ACTUALLY QUALIFY and have been trying for years to get in. This upsets me off to no end.

I guess you are not eligible until 2023 now. So please stop wasting the spots in the upcoming years. There are many folks who have been trying to sponsor for years.

Actually this sort of thing has been going on since 2017 for all the lottery draws. There is no way for IRCC to verify the NOA LICO income when they submit the ITA. In 2017 when it first came out it was even more ridiculous. Anyone with an email address even if they are foreign nationals could take part in the lottery!
