Got visa for McGill University! whole process explained for newbies

Hello everyone

I will be attending Mcgill university this fall....

This is my profile-

10th-86%
12th-67%
B Tech (biotechnology)-8.87/10 (CGPA)
Ielts-8.0
GRE-306/340

Documents submitted- (paper based)

form IMM1294E (take 2 printouts of the barcode page)
form IMM5645E
student questionnaire form (download from vfs site)
Consent form (download from vfs site)

Addtional documents-

These documents depend upon the category of your application...SPP/General/University

I submitted my application under university category...Please browse this website and find out your application category...

IELTS result
GRE result
Photocopy of graduation degree
Photocopy of all the marksheets
affidavid/cover letter (notarized)
Photocopy of passport
E medical form
Certificate of acceptance of Quebec (required if u r going to Quebec)
Letter of acceptance
SOP
GIC certificate aka Investment directions
bank statements (must be recent)
Dad's contract letter (stating montly salary)
Tax return form (got from dad's CA)
Dad's pay slips
fee payment slip (submitted swift receipt of bank)
sponsorship form (notarized)


There are few mistakes that I have done which delayed the whole process;I applied for visa on 29th of august (31st was the deadline of visa submission for september intake)....

1 CAQ-You must apply for CAQ if you are going to Quebec...You need only offer letter (email version is enough) for applying CAQ...mine took 23 buisness days...i applied for CAQ a week after recieving my offer letter;it was huge mistake as I was not able to apply for visa (CAQ is mandatory)...apply for CAQ the day you recieve your LOA

2 Loan-applied for loan in june but the whole process was soooo slow... I kept waiting for loan sanction but it never happened...so paid my first year tution fee...
The bank guys are not up to date....wire transfers are not accepted by many universities these days...so please call or email your university before paying your tution fee...
I paid my fee through ICICI via travelex(western union)...

Please if you have any doubts you must call vfs helpline,most of the vfs people are very helpful...and go through the guide 5269 given on cic website before filling the forms....

And some more info-
I went to copras n some other consultancies...they charge huge amount of money (30 k in some cases) but the help they provide is very general and definately not worth your money....If you are an active user of internet then please learn the whole process and then apply....its not a rocket science ....

Though they are not mentioned but they are important.
CIC needs to look at sponsor's yearly income.

I agree bro but are there cases where visa has been issued with only these financial proofs?

Nope....

But you should provide enough proof that you can support urself in a foreign country...
My cousin applied under general category and she didnt purchased GIC....She provided bank statements of all her bank accounts and loan papers...
It depends on your category....

Bro I am pretty sure that there are 3 categories SPP/general n university....

I think in univ., GIC is required or education loan of 10000$ or above
GIC is better as it makes case strong
you need to show itr , pay slips and bank statements otherwise chances of rejection are high.

CIC needs to know if sponsor can finance you because some people transfer money temporarily from someone (say friend or relative) and return the money back, so 6 months transactions should be shown
