Hello everyone,
Hope you are all doing well. First of all I will explain what happened, I applied for a study permit (non-sds) last month and today I got the Letter stating that my application got rejected. The letter said this:
Dear xxx
Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.
I have a few questions regarding this before I apply again.
1. Does this mean that the reasons (grounds) provided were the only issue with my application? Meaning that if I clear these I have a good chance of getting a visa/permit (I know its never guaranteed) and that the officer did not find any other issues?
2. How do I go about making my application stronger? How and what documents can I provide to respond to these concerns?
Any help from anyone is vastly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You were refused because the visa officer determined that you are not leaving Canada after your studies. Therefore the visa officer cannot issue you a study permit.

Are you trying to use a study permit to stay in Canada? Because that will get your permit refused

thanks for all the replies guys @Shaild @aqibaqib363 . I will get a somewhat better picture after the gcms notes. I appied last month and I'm not sure about the VO. I just have one question is sds better than non sds? Does it increase the chances of getting an approval? Any consultant I talk to says to go for sds. @jweekend I dont have any intention of doing anything that will be against any canadian rules so I am not using it to stay in Canada. But even still I have to prove that fact to the officer. My family does not own any property or anything so may that's where the problem lies? I guess?

Hello,

If you meet the SDS requirements, go for it. It helps you apple with less documents and swift processing. Also, the chances of approval weighs better. However, don't fuss about it if you can't meet with the requirements.

When your notes arrives, the clearer picture of the best approach to tackle the VO's concerns will be conceived.

Regards

No. iRCC determined that you will not comply with immigration regulations and there cannot issue you a study permit that contradicts subsection 216

Is that even true these days? Depends on where you're applying from I guess. In India it's a fact that many SDS applicants are in limbo since a long time and yet non-SDS ones keep getting processed.
