The EPT certificate is not required for processing of the SP application. If the university decided that your English proficiency falls within your course's standards by sending you a LOA, that's enough proof for the CIC already.

Ok, now it seems that you get my message. Being a foreign aspiring student you have to demonstrate to the university you are applying to your EPT certificate. CIC doesn't require you to present your EPT score, therefor it CANNOT affect your visa chances. As simple as that.
It looks like all the Indians in this forum submitted IELTS (whether applying under the general or SPP category). If your IELTS scores meet the minimum standard set by your univerisity (that's you've unconditional admission with regard to the english language requirement), then you can apply for study permit with your current IELTS results. Visa Officers look at several factors in determining that you can succeed in the academic path you've chosen. IELTS is just one of those several factors and it can't overall significantly have negative impact on your application.

If you think circumstances warrant, then re-take IELTS to improve upon your result, athough I don't it's necessary.

Dear Diplomatru, I surmise it has become a custom for Indian nationals in India to submit IELTS/TOEFL in partial fulfilment of their ability to succeed academically in Canada. On a more serious note, Indians can apply for study permit under the general or SPP category. In the latter, submission of IELTS is habitually compulsory. Thus, a good IELTS score increases one chance of getting their study permit approved. 1) No, it's not. I also agreed with you too, Friday.h. The IELTS is kind of compulsory for Indians aplying under the SPP category, unless otherwise stated. So I think it's advisable that he re-takes the IELTS to meet the minimum score of 6.0 for each.
