Hey everyone! I know you've heard this before, but I just got my ITA through Express Entry, and now I’m struggling to decide whether to go through with it or not.

I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and truly thank God for it, but at the same time, I have a good job here in Lebanon, and the thought of leaving everything behind is overwhelming. I’m 24, working in marketing, communications, and cinema, and I’ve built a career I enjoy.

My girlfriend and I initially applied because of the war. At the time, the situation was unbearable—bombs every night, constant fear, and so much uncertainty. We were desperate for a way out and wanted to build a more stable future. But now, things have calmed down, and that urgency isn’t as intense as before.

For those who have been through this or know more about it, any advice? My girlfriend wasn’t picked in this round, but she would be joining me later if I decide to move forward.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

"marketing, communications, and cinema" - this isn't a line of work.

Either you work in marketing (are a PMM, SEO, Performance marketer, brand marketer, etc) or either you work in communications (marketing communications, public relations, etc) or you work in Cinema.

Given that you are 24, you likely have 2-4 years of marketing/communications/cinema experience. Marketers are dime a dozen in Canada (but a lot of them are bad ones). Same goes for communication folks, lot of people in it too. But in both, we have fewer people who are actually talented and can do the real work. Benchmark yourself by talking to people who have jobs here in these line of work and see where you stand compared to them.

I can't talk about Cinema as an industry, but the logic follows.

If you value a good place that respects you as an individual, with friendly-yet-not-nosy community, etc Canada is the place to be. Your individual needs would dictate your choice of whether to move or not move. People with the same financials, same jobs, same conditions, etc can have polar opposite views of Canada and their experience with it.

It is a great place. You've to decide if it is for you!

I will say if you can financially afford it (~$2k) then you should definitely go through with it. Get approved and do a soft landing and you can defer your decision about a final move for up to 3 years. As a PR, you have to live 2 out of 5 years to maintain your status as a PR.
Canada will not leave its doors open for long and I think you should not make up your mind without at least trying.
