At the end it says "Application identified as part of the 2016 inventory reduction exercise for certain spouse or common law partner in Canada applications. Application requires closer view."

What does that mean? I did see someone else who had their application put forward for the reduction exercise, and they also had the comment saying their application required closer review...? Is that what they say on everyone's notes when they're part of the 2016 exercise...?

It means they identified your case as one they want to try to streamline under the inventory reduction program they announced June 13 2016. In my opinion, it sounds like they are going to look at the application to make sure they have everything they need to make a decision.

No. We haven't received any correspondence from them since we got AOR in Feb.

I asked because under the same program, they are sending out automated emails about things like PCC's or civil documents that they require. It's a good thing to be in the program -- you might get a PR by years' end!

No it does not say that for everyone. Ur a 2015 applications that is why ur app might be part of reduction exercise. Closer review probably means some redflags on ur file (maybe).

Hmm. Not sure what the reg flags would be! We are common-law. I'm from UK. We sent a lot of documents when we originally submitted our app. Letters from friends/fam, pics, travel tickets, bills together, lease together, insurance together, etc.

Notes also say that it was deemed complete during completeness check. That was last september. The note for being added to the 2016 reduction exercise was added August 2016. Maybe it needs closer look as no-one has looked at it since last sept?

My two-cents here is that they do a quick look to see what cases might be "straightforward" so they can group them for quicker processing. Once grouped, they probably look at those cases a little closer to determine which they can likely approve faster.

Keep in mind, the GCMS notes are notes and opinions of Officers within the government. "Application requires closer view" could mean just about anything. But my opinion is, they intend to try to review the case again and regroup it accordingly.

I just noticed something else. At the beginning of the notes, it says I passed my med exam but it is has expired.

Further down under background check, it says;

no health impairments/no surveillance required.
Valid until: 2017/05/06

Does that mean that they extended my med results...?

Also it goes through the fees paid.... Some of them say that they are outstanding... but we paid all of the fees when we sent our application last year and have the receipts. Hmm.

I am a Canadian sponsoring my wife. I ordered my Sponsorship application, because ECAS has said since May that my Sponsorship application was in process.... What do you think I found?

There is a "Payment" of 1115 (the website over-charged us), but that was "Reserved".

Just below that, I found 3 "Fees" that have amounts paid: 0. I think they are holding the payment in escrow until they finish processing. That's just my opinion...

That annoyed me too when I read it.

If your sponsor requests the Sponsorship application you might see the payment just above the fees. That's why I think it's held in escrow. We also have receipts and I printed them immediately when I saw that, just in case...
