Thanks!
My ECA for bachelor degree doesn't mention anything about honorary. My PhD degree certificate didn't show anything related. I will ask my supervisor to write a letter to explain.
Just curious but which Canadian University did you get your PhD from? Was it a fully accredited university in Canada? Maybe that could have been what caused the issue.

I think getting a letter from your supervisor and any and all transcripts related to your PhD to prove that you did all the required courses and thesis would be necessary to convince the officer that it was a proper degree.

And the translation for your spouse's degree should be quick to get.

Try to get it all done as quickly as you can, as it has already been quite a few weeks since the officer's notes and you run the risk of getting a refusal soon.

Ok, I am not sure if I am mixing up things. But I thought the notes indicated that you did ECA for your Phd and bachelors, bachelors was ok as bachelors but phd indicated its honorary? Is that the case?
If you didn't do ECA for your phd, and your degree/transcript doesn't indicate that, perhaps the officer is confused as how you have a bsc and then a phd? If you did do ECA for your phd, you need to talk to the ECA guys as to why they are evaluating it as honorary?
Yes, you are right. I didn't do the ECA of my PhD as I got PhD in Canada.
I got ECA of my bachelor, which is unnecessary.

Yes, they may get confused. That's not what I can expect because that's my case and I saw many people having this situation (PhD without master's degree).

Thanks for your adivse!
I am from University of Alberta, top 5 in Canada (well, sometimes in 6th). So it shouldn't be the university's problem.

I will get the translation ASAP. But my supervisor's letter gonna be end of this week.

I guess I will raise two CSE. One to submit the translation. the other one to submit the LOE regarding my PhD degree.

And I will order GCMS notes today, and another GCMS notes 7 days after I provided every

I think thats a solid plan.

From what I have seen, it usually takes weeks for IRCC to respond to CSEs, so you might be in for a bit of a wait.

The translation shouldnt take long so you can take care of that quickly and then follow it up with your additional PhD information.

Wish you the best of luck. Keep us updated about your progress! Hopefully, it all works out.

P.S. Thanks for the university update. Would be interesting to know, why they seemed to have a problem with your PhD. Maybe your next set of GCMS notes can shed some light on that.

Do you know if they can make final decision with a pending CSE in my file? I hope they have to address the CSE first.

I hope it worked. I will wait a while longer before ordering GCMS notes.

Thanks for your good wishes! I will keep you updated.

As long as your CSE gets processed before a decision is made, I would hope that they look at it first but I doubt they are required to do so.

After all, the general rule is that any application has to be complete when it is submitted, so taking a CSE into account seems to me to be partly a matter of leniency on their part, thereby allowing applicants to potentially fix mistakes and not just inform IRCC about changes.

Most people seem to get a response to a CSE within 3-4 weeks.

I hope you will be able to share some good news with us soon!

"submitted"
Do you mean the status in the CIC account for application? Mine turned to submitted from updated 2 weeks ago! My god, I hope they will be lenient to me.

I mean that after you get ITA, they give you 60 days to get all paperwork in order and once you uploaded all your files and officially submit your EE profile with all the attached documents, it becomes locked in and you receive AOR.

At that point, there is an expectation that what you sibmitted is complete, since you had 60 days to get whatever information or documentation you are missing.

So IRCC is expected to refuse every incomplete application. See here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

As with everything else in life, every officer gets some leeway to interpret the rules and sometimes people seem to get document requests when something is missing, instead of being refused for incomplete. Other times they arent given that chance.

What works in your favor is that you submitted the corrections before they informed you about your application being incomplete.

I hope that will be good enough but nobody would be able to tell you for sure either way.

I wish you all the best for your application! You better have some good neews for us in the coming weeks! ;)

Got it. Indeed the agents are working differently. Bless something good can happen.
It is good to have this forum to discuss those issue with so many warm-hearted people.
Once again, Thank you Andre! I will keep you updated no matter the outcome.

Goes to show that it can be extremely useful to order GCMS notes. At least this way you have a chance to fix the problem. Otherwise you would have just received a refusal.

Sadly, IRCC still doesnt usually send out requests for missing documents, which in my mind would be the sensible thing to do instead of refusing incomplete applications.

Looking forward to hopefully getting some good news about your case soon! All the best!

Hi Andre,

I just want to let you know that I got an update from CIC. My background check changed to "in progress" today.
I hope this could be positive sign.
