As it appears you applied as a FSW1 without arranged employment. Then you have to show proof of funds on landing.

yes, Sandysurey is absolutely right. It is mandatory. While processing ones file, this is also a very important element which is taken into account.

I guess it should be mentioned in the visa docs as well. So,please take note of it.
God bless all.

Dear Friends, I'm still unsure whether to carry POF with me. My agent told me if one has job offer they do not have to show POF at port of entry. The purpose of asking POF is just to make sure whether one can take care of them self without government's help but if one has job offer then they do not have to show pof. Please I need some more senior's advice on this. It's very important for me rite now b'coz i dont have much time to land in calgary. Otherwise I need to apply for personal loan shortly. Please advice.
Very much appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance.

Yes
You have to show POF & no doubt about it as you got the job offer later during the process or after getting PRV.
DO NOT TAKE CHANCES. You may get into trouble.

Hi,

Just to clear up more that if you have your application submitted with an AEO (Arranged employment opinion) , during the entire process and even at the time of landing you don't need to carry or maintain any funds.

As far as I understand you have job offer not even an AEO and your whole application has been processed with out an AEO. There is a big difference between a job offer and an AEO, anybody can take your interview and offer you a conditional offer letter that once you get the PR and land here we will give you the job but for an AEO there is a process that an employer has to follow .

If at the time of entry , on being ask by the immigration officer regarding POF , you shows him an offer letter ,he may refused you to enter canada

Dear Qorax, kindly shed some light on this, I think you missed my question under you POF thread:
What if you applied under FSW1 and along the line you had a job offer and obtained AEO (but didn't inform VO). Do you still need to show POF? Does the landing docs show which category one applied under (FSW1/FSW2)?
Waiting for your response...Mandie

Dear Ma'am,

1. Our COPR indicates the category of application. There's a field called, "IMMCAT", which is endorsed with codes.
2. If u have an AEO [only HRSDC approved ones r permitted] - u must info your VO prior to flying.
3. This info is imdtly fed into the GCMS [though it could take around few weeks].
4. Thus, even if u have already got the PRVs & COPR, given 4-5 weeks of Adv. Info - u yet could avoid the POF.
5. Else, it'd be unto the BSO @ the POE to accept it or not.
6. U must carry a printout of the letter sent to your VO informing the AEO.

Qorax

Your agent is wrong.

If you applied FSW1 without a job offer, then getting a job offer in the interim period is irrelevant. You still require to possess at least the minimum required settlement funds when you complete your record of landing.

Please note that the officer when you complete your record of landing may not ask to see proof of funds (we, for example, were not asked to show them) but they certainly can do. If you fail to provide them if asked then they can refuse to complete your record of landing. If you are not from a visitor-visa exempt country then you will not even be able to enter Canada and will have to wait at the airport for a return flight home.

IMO definitely not worth the risk, so bring the proof of funds with you! :)

Just to re-iterate, personal loans may not be used as proof of settlement funds.

You need to OWN the funds, they must belong to you - net of any debts, at the time you land. So if you don't have the funds available now you need to start SAVING so you have them for when you land.

How long do you have before you need to land? And can I ask why you do not have the funds available? You will have had to show these funds when you submitted your documents?

Your agent is wrong. You applied under the FSW program WITHOUT an AEO. As such, you are required to present POF upon landing. True, the purpose of the funds is for you to survive on your own and that if you have a job, then you're secured already BUT that doesn't mean you're off the hook of the required POF. You're talking of practicality. Immigration officers look at technicality. Unless you have an AEO, technically you are required the POF. That is all that matters to them.

You've gone this far to risk everything. I suggest you go get that money and bring it with you when you land. You can repay the institution once you've completed your formalities.
