Hi everyone,

I've got ITA on March 20, and I'm now completing the Educational History on my profile. I have two Masters degrees, the most recent one is from Canada, and the previous one was from China. I did not get an ECA for my masters in China, and I didn't want to claim any points from it.

In my pre-ITA profile, I included only my Masters in Canada in the " Education History". I have two questions:

1- Since both my Masters degrees are my highest degree of education, if I listed my masters in China under "Education History", would I be asked for an ECA for it (even if I chose NO under "have you got an ECA for it in the past 5 years?)?

2- Would it be an issue if I only put the degree that I would like to claim points from (my Masters in Canada) under "Education History", and state the rest of my degrees under my "Personal History"?

Many thanks!

Since you didn't request for an ECA for your Chinese , you can't claim it under Educational history instead you can only include that as an educational activity under personal history. To make it very clear to them, attach an LOE on top of your educational documents stating that you did indeed graduate but did not feel like equating your foreign degree as you already got a Canadian degree that is good enough for you. Also, since there was no ECA generated and since you are not claiming your foreign degree you don't really need to attach a copy of it as it won't hold any value without an ECA paired to it.

I also got two Masters degree... In my case, it was the opposite. got WES ECA for my 1st masters. .included my 2nd masters in additional details and in the letter of explanation.

I did not face any issues nor did they ask any questions about the additional degree

Thank you so much for your answers @yiso91 @cadgijoe @express2020 !

So I should only include my masters degree in Canada under education history and put the rest of my degrees under personal history, and write a LOE.

The only thing is that the instruction of "Education History" says: you can tell us about each period of study by filling in the fields below. Would that be untruthful if I did not fill in each period of my study?

No. Only include the degree/degree's for which u have an ECA in education history ( if u include the 2nd degree they will ask an ECA for that)

Include 2nd masters under personal history and in LOE do "briefly" explain everything with the timeline.

I don't think you even need an LOE for that. But it's the right attitude of you to do so, because it's always better be safe than sorry. It's always advisable to go the extra mile, just so that you can sleep soundly at night. It's always puzzling me when some people cry out why they are put into RR (review required) when it turns out they didn't provide all the details required, thinking oh I'm genuine and they (CIC) would understand, and then they have to tremble getting supporting documents later on (this also proves they can get those right at the start but were just too lazy or didn't do enough research). Search this forums everytime you have doubt. Good luck!

No. The same for jobs. Only list out those that you claim points for. Others, put them in personal history section.

Hi All,
I need a suggestion from you .

I have completed my 10 months MBA from Spain , however I am not taking ECA point for this , rather I am taking ECA points for my Mtech degree which I did from India .

Question is :

1. While showing 10 months MBA in personal history section, I am selecting it under educational activity, which is asking for One year, two year or Masters . Also , there is option of NONE or Less than high school. Which option should i select under level of Education. Id selecting NONE is Ok ?

2. After completing this 10 months MBA , i went to London to complete 1 month advance summer school from LSE. Again the problem as under education activity ( level of education ) - I can't find any option to show this 1 month program

3. Post this 1 month program, I cam back to IIM Bangalore to complete my exchange program of MBA for 3 months- again the same problem as in educational activity (level of education)- I cant see as what to write.

I am a bit confused for this. Can you help me ?

1. MBA = "Masters" in Business Administration. So, you choose Masters.
2. Choose Diploma and enter duration 1 month.
3. Was this part of your MBA mentioned in point 1?

1. However this MBA is for 10 months - so will that be considered under Masters, as not evaluated by ECA.
2. There is no option i can see for 1 month - can you please suggest
3. Yes- this was the exchange program of MBA , however I was i another country - so i need to create another coloumn of this in education activity

Nice thread and great responses.
I am yet to get an ITA. I have a professional degree and a Masters degree but only the professional degree was evaluated, since both give the same score. Am I in order to have stated both degrees in pre-ITA form, even though I mentioned no ECA was done for the Masters? I am concerned the Masters may be automatically added to my Education History post-ITA. Should I declare the masters pre-ITA or just wait to add it after ITA?
Thanks.

Got your point- however the concern is the same as no points claimed - so should i still show this masters in personal history

However, what did you select in Level of Education while putting second masters in Employment activity ?

Since you are claiming ECA Points for your M Tech Degree .mention only MTECH details in the "education history" section
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CIC doesn't care about the duration of the course for which you are not claiming points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Under "Personal History" section, select "MASTERS" and mention you have an MBA from the awarding university ( IIM-B or X uni from Spain)

In the Letter of Explanation (Kindly be brief) tell them that you have spent 10 months in Spain + 1 month in London (Summer School) + 3 months in India to complete your the degree requirements for your MBA. No need to dissect your MBA

Mention "MASTERS" in Travel history / Employment Activity for your time spent in Spain & London.

Thanks for the reply. I have gone ahead as per the suggestion, however do you think that Letter of explanation is needed for this or mandatory as I am not showing this under Education section, rather in personal history section ...
