I have Completed 33 credits in 3 semesters. Just to make it more clear...I started it in Jan 2011...Completed by April 2012...Total of 16 months..But in that period of study, 4 months (1 semester) was Summer term and I didn't enroll in University...

work depend on your number of semesters,,, dont be depend on duration of ur stay & study in canada,,,,,if someone have one year course and he drop the two term and the study& stay is around 16months ,, thats doesn't means some one ll get three work permit to study less then 4 sem..

Hi,

Is it possible to get 3 years work permit after completing 4 terms master degree course ??

I have the option to do Masters ( 1.3 years - 4 terms ) program in canada. After completion of graduation, i will get 1.3 years PGWP visa. So if i apply PNP at the beginning of last semester in September 2014 ( after completion of 1 year course in ontario ), Will i get PR before 1.3 years PGWP visa getting expired ?. Is it possible for me to get PNP at the right time in the less number of ontario quota ?.

Is it worth or safe for trying PR by using 1.3 years PGWP.

Please guide me.

Thanks

I have a similar problem I completed my MEng in Aerospace Engineering which is officially a 2 year program but I completed it in 16 months viz. 4 semesters without any breaks and I was only issued a 16 month work permit. Meanwhile a friend of mine in the same situation (we studied together ;D) was issued a 3 year work permit ( we applied together) I am not sure how they issue PGWP ??? Anyways I will call up CIC and find out and let you guys know in this thread.

Another example of inconsistency in the criteria uses to issue WP. I will tell you my personal experience. I finished a 2 years program of study delivered in 3 consecutive semesters. Started in September 2008 to December/08 fall semester, January/09 to April/09 Winter semester y finally summer from May/09 to August/09. I applied for PGWP and got a 3 years WP. Base in the length of my program of study my WP luckily was issued for the right length; but previous to fill out my application I called CIC call center agents and they were "100 % sure" that my work permit was going to be issued for only 12 months. how can you explain such discrepancy in what CIC call center agents advise and what VO do???

So I called the cic agent and the agent was like do not compare your permits with your friends, the agent also said that you need to get a letter from the university stating that the official length of the program is 2 years. I then went and met the immigration lawyer for ISS (Internationa Student Services) of my grad school and the lawyer advised me to apply again and that I will have to pay the application fees again and this time I have to send along with my application a "status letter / letter of explanation" (which I didn't submit last time) Apparently this letter states that your official length of the program is 2 years. So guys go meet the ISS.

Hi All,

Need you expert advice.

I have applied to RRU (Royal Road University) for MGM(Master of Global Management) its a 18 month duration course (12 months classes + 6 months Research Project)

I need to understand if i complete this 18 months(4 month = 1 semester, 4 semester) course in 18 months and apply for PSWP.

For how many months PSWP will be granted to me? (18 months, 2 years, 3 years)

Please advice ........ thanks a ton in advance.

Hi Buddy,

just a quick question, When is your passport expiring ???

I got a work permit for 16 months cuz my Passport was expiring at that time. After i renewed my passport, i got another work permit for rest of 20 months. If your passport is ok then i guess you should consult with CIC representative or with a lawyer

I have the same issue. I got work permit only for 25 months coz my passport is expiring. I have a question, did you have to reapply for work permit once you renewed your passport or how was it done ???

She said u already work for 3 years for the employer so need to advertise job.

I had a PGWP for 1.3 years because of my passport expiry. After renewing my passport, I applied for an extension of PGWP, and got the remaining years. So yes, you have to reapply for PGWP if you want the remaining years.

I got 14 months post graduation work permit that will expire in oct 30 this year. One of my classmate got 3 years. Other one get 7 months due to his passport expired. he got a new passport then applied again, got extra 14 months for his extension work permit. I have come to Canada in Jan 2011. I completed my Master's education in April 2012 and then applied for a Post graduation work permit.
So, my study period in Canada is 16 months and I got a work permit for just 18 months.

I was expecting a 3 year work permit, since my "lenght of the program" is 2 years. And I thought the length of the program is considered rather than lenght of study. Is the work permit I got appropriate to my case?
Apparently you completed your 2 year program in 1 1/2 years. CIC goes by actual time spent in the program. The length of your PGWP permit is correct.

Even i received the 16 months of PGWP after doing a 2 year cource...4 full time semisters.

Then i went to see a lawyer and applied again with this assistance...

with in 2 months, to my surprise i received a new PGWP Valid 3 years

There is no harm in re applying....I also completed my MBA in 18 months (although it was a 1 year program) and got a 3 yr PGWP. I intentionally extended my course because at that time cic website said that they consider 16 month duration course equivalent to 2 years so students are entitled for 3 yrs PGWP. But some of my friends got the WP for 20 months and some for 16 months and I wasn't the only luck one, most of them got it for 3 yrs.

My room mate got it for 20 months and he reapplied with an explanation letter that with an MBA degree he is entitled for 3 yr WP (he mentioned that although the duration is lesser but the credits earned were of a Grad Degree, he got a letter from the University as well) He received a new WP with an end date of 3 years after his initial issued date
