annnnnd, here is what it said:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

It goes on to request an FBI background clearance and a copy of the photo page of my passport which are due back in 60 days.
(i got the FBI background check issue resolved...)

Here is what I have a question with: I sent in a copy of my passport page with my application, since they are requesting it again, does this mean they are issuing my visa? or do they actually request my passport?

PLEASE HELP?

They are about to issue your visa. Send both of those things along :)

Don't send your passport unless they specifically request your passport. If you're from a visa-exempt country there is no need to send a passport as a visa is not needed.

Perhaps they just didn't see the bio page of your passport you already photocopied and sent in, or maybe they just want to make sure they have the most up-to-date copy. You should just photocopy and send it again.

Exactly. They have your photocopied page already. They just want one now to confirm that you have not updated your passport since applying and all of this junk. You're almost done... send off that copy and FBI clearance.. congrats

Right! It said just to photocopy the photo page! I was wondering if this meant they were issuing my visa, or not. And when they do issue my visa, do they ask for my actual passport, or just a copy of the photo page?

There is no guarantee that they wont request more info.. BUT this is usually a sign that they are actually ISSUING your visa. So send along before they think of something else to request ;)

What is your citizenship? As i said, if you are from a visa-exempt country you may not need a visa so you wouldn't have to send your passport in. You would just need the CoPR to do your landing.

Confirmation of Permanent Resident. A piece of paper that confirms you are approved for PR, and that you give to the immigration people when you land in Canada. They check all your info on the CoPR, stamp it and send it off to CIC, who then issue your physical PR card a few months later.

Eventually the status of your application on the website will change to "Decision Made". Then you wait a few weeks and in the mail you get this CoPR, or (worst case) a rejection. Though they don't usually reject people without an interview so if you get "Decision Made" without having done an interview that's a good sign.

im really sorry i keep on asking questions but a few more for you:
im in canada right now, if i land in canada, do i have to go to an american/canadian border crossing? and can i do so right after i receive the CoPR?
how long, do you think, until i'm officially approved after they receive what i send in?

You can do inside Canada too. But it depends where you live, and waiting time is long like some places are 3 weeks. So better to drive to border close to your townécity.
