I am going to have a interview in Beijing Embassy. In the interview request letter, it says to bring copies of a ll pages from sponsor's current and previous passports.

But his old passport is in his hometown in somewhere he doesn't even know, cuz that passport expired long time ago, and he didn't know that this will be need in this future, so he put away the passport along with a lot of other old stuff into a storage unit years ago.

He wrote a explanation letter to the VO, and I will bring it to the interview, is this okay?

Will there be any troubles for this situation? Plz help, thanks everyone!

When is your interview? Maybe you should call the Beijing Embassy beforehand and inform them about your sponsor's previous passport...it's better to be totally transparent to them.

Btw, are you under spousal sponsorship?

My interview is one week later, I am under family class sponsorship yes.

I told my husband to write a email to them to inform them, but he thinks that is not necessary, since he already wrote a letter for me to bring to the interview. But I am still really worried about this.

It's definitely best to inform them before the interview about the situation, so that you know the best thing to bring with you. Send the embassy an email for sure, explaining the situation. Because you were the one asked to bring the copies, you are the one that has to send the email, not your husband.

I absolutely agree with Betina...better let the embassy know about your situation. So it wont be a problem when you 're already in the embassy for your interview...best of luck to you!

Btw, is it really a procedure in Beijing Embassy that interview is required?

If this passport expired long before you even met or started sponsorship proceedings then I can't see how that passport would even be relevant to this situation. When I see a statement like that, I wonder if they mean any past documents relevant to this proceeding, which I would assume means any passport he has held while this process is ongoing. I would double check with them to be sure, but if it expired "long time ago" as you say, then it probably is not pertinent information in regards to your sponsorship paperwork.

whatever , even if ur passport is 50 yrs old,the immigration dept will ask you to show it at the airport or at embassy to stamp the visa,
if u dont able to find ur passport , then complain at the police dept and get the record.

The applicant was asked to get copies from the sponsor's passport, not her own. The sponsor's passport does not get a visa stamped in it.

And a 50 year old passport is not valid anymore so nobody can put a visa in it or travel with it anywhere.

Most of the application in Beijing won't be request a interview. Mine should be interview waiver too, I checked my GCMS notes, and the first visa officer who was processing our application gave that interview waiver recommendation, then it changed to interview required by another VO, which made me really pissed, because we are in the queue to be scheduled a interview for over 5 months, cases in Beijing normally finished in 3-5 months. I already waited for 8.

Hi, Allura, his old passport expired 2 years before we met, but in the interview letter, it says to bring all current and previous passport pages. I should send a email and check with them.

You should read more carefully, honey, I said clearly-- Sponsor's passport, not mine.
