Hi

I am planning to land with my family in Dec 2010. But due to my job I will have to fly back to India in 4~5 days. Though I have a friend in Canada who will help me out with the PR card, I don’t want to take the risk of couriering the PR card.
I want to take the official route of Travel document from the Canadian embassyin india.
Has anyone ever tried this?
Is there any issue with this procedure?
What is the usual time taken for this process?

There's a risk in everything -- but many take the couriering route of shipping the PRCs as well.
-Entering back with the PRC will be lot easier.
-The PRTD is Ok to fetch from your local CHC.
-There r no negativities involved with this procedure, just the additional hassle.
-Depending on CHCs the PRTD should take anything between 2-5 days.

The procedure is both same & a bit different...

PRC: With a PR card u just flash the card@a BSO & continue your way out. Simple & straight.

PRTD: However, with a PRTD (besides the hassle of obtaining it) u'd require to wait@the Immigr Queue (just like when u entered first), get the doc scrutinized, reply to their queries, get the same endorsed on their system & then be let out.

Given that everything is alright (your residency requirement), u'd be let to enter@ease with the PRTD too no doubt, but there's this time lag (& extra hassle, for some, if they feel that way).
