Hi Simsinghgill,
You can go to Canada do the landing formalities and come back in a weeks time. There is no problem in that. Your Pr cards will be mailed to your friend or relatives address you have provided. Your physical presence is not required.
If by any chance your Pr cards are not issued due to photo problems then too no problems as the rules have changed.
From 3rd Nov 2011 the person is not called to their office to redo the photos. Previously they would call the person in office to get the photos.
So here too if your photo is rejected your relative will be mailed a red letter giving a time limit of 180 days to provide the photos.
If you happen to get this just forward a set of new photos to your relative to mail it to CIC.
Here too if your photos get rejected you will be issued a final notice to submit in 30 days fresh photos. Here too your relatives should be given the photos to mail it from Canada.
Here too if you fail your file will be closed. This does not mean you lose your PR status.
You can then contact consulate in your home country and get a travel document to fly to Canada and pay $50 for applying again for a PR card which could take 6 months minimum to get in your hands.
Hope this detailed explanation has given you a insight how it works.

Nice explanation Vidya,

Kindly give the reference of ur statment, the rule of physical appearence change from 3 Nov 2011.

You don't need PR card to exit Canada but you need it to enter. If you don't, you may have to apply a travel document at your nearest Canadian consulate unless you have a visa exempted passport.

Hi Shah0207,
Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob354.asp
I had my infant photo rejected and our relative was send the red letter with 180 days time to submit new photos by mail. In the red letter it was clearly written no need to come personally as the rule has changed. Luckily we have recd her PR card.

If someone apply for child benefits on first arrival and then leave canada for 6 months, will he be getting child benefits during this 6 months ?

This may sound a little ridiculous, but I read that if you enter Canada by road in your personal car than a PR card is not required. Does it mean that if I am in US and a relative or friend picks from US and drives into Canada, I will not be asked to produce my PR card ?

Please answer, because this option is also open to me !!

Hello Singh

I am also in the same condition. I want to go back to India without PR card. I think u have travelled back to India without PR cards. Tell me whether u had faced any problem by airlines or any airport on the way....................by which airlines u travelled back to India\

Thanks & Regards
Gobinder Singh

I've travelled back without a PR card no one will bother about it, at the most the airline officials may tell u that without a PR card you can't return back, just answer them in an affirmative, thats all...

And one more thing, when I landed in Canada the BSA did asked me where I would be staying? To which I responded with a correct answer and I also told them that I would be returning back to my home country in a month's time and would come back in another six months, he was absolutely ok about it.... So not to worry about how many days to stay during the initial period, its ok to return back in 2 to 3 weeks after landing if it is absolutely necessary.

Cheers!

If you travel road, your COPR will suffice.

Hi all, has anybody ever tried to exit Canada before getting the PR card? then after the card arrives, the relative sends the card to his respective country then this PR guy enters Canada without any hassles?

Thanks

Thanks for all the wonderfull replies.

Can someone provide a link for the PR photo requirements ? I read in one of the threads that the specs of the photos have changed in the past.
