Can I get my passport stamped in person in Buffalo (my CPC)? Or, is it required that I must mail my passport to them?

I plan to drive there get my permanent residence visa in person and then land while I am driving back in Canada. Is that possible?

Where can i find more information about it?

Thanks so much!

Hey Torntogirl
congratulations
i MA HAPPY FOR YOU,as your long process is approaching the end successfully.
as far as i know, yes there were people able to do that in buffalo consulate according to their posts in other website, but this is back in August and September and i never seen any applicants after posted it, but it looks doable!!

the best way is to either wait some body recently did it to reply here . or just call them or email them and tell them; you are gonna be in Buffalo can i get my passport stamped or not?.

but you know, the most difficult part of your application is over and this step doesn't really matter now.

The link you received with passport instructions should have more information. There are 2 days when you can go in person to have your passport stamped.

Thanks edmontonian,

I really hope I will get the PPR email this week and hopefully I can go to Buffalo next week.

I did the same (in-person Visa stamping and landing) on Spetember 20, 2011. I know a few who did same after that. And even though I applied in PNP category, it shouldn't make any difference for a CEC category - I assume.

So, to answer your question, yes, you can drive to Buffalo in order to get your passport stamped and CoPR and you can land on the border later on same day.

But these options should be written in detail in your PPR. You can compare yours with mine (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-and-when-to-pay-rprf-t78123.0.html;msg986148#msg986148).

I've written re: my experience at Buffalo in PNP thread with what to do/not to do. You can check them out. Good luck!

You have make an appointment on line for a visa at the US consulate. The wait time for an appt. is 7 days.

Wow, you were lucky, I had to wait exactly a month :(

Recently, I filled out DS-160 (US B1/B2 Visa) form for my wife on Jan 16, 2012. She was given an appointment on Feb 7, 2012 at Toronto US Consulate. The visa was given on next day and we picked up the passport from a DHL (Loomix) location on Feb 9, 2012.

FYI, there are certain times of a day (i.e. late at night/early morning) when you can re-schedule an earlier interview date upon availability. But you've to try couple of times.
