Hi

We are a family of 3 and PR and want to sponsor my parents who are GC holders in USA. This is my first day of my research, so please let me know if I am wrong. Somebody told me that I should hire this rep who will fill up the forms for the sponsorship, he is asking $500 per parent, is this really needed or can I do it myself.

We together make between 60-70 K, so we do meet the LICO requirement.
Is it correct that the forms needed to be filled are:

IMM 1344A
IMM 1344B
IMM 1283
IMM 5409
the Receipt - IMM 5401
IMM 5287
Any other form that I am missing?

The processing fees - how will that get paid, I believe it if IMM 5401, where do I get that form from?
Can I get the rest of the forms printed from the internet?

Is their an option that they have to or can surrender their GC and their PR?Since they are in the USA I want to file theirs from the USA and not from Delhi India. Will it help in the timeline?

Much thanks

First of all you do not really need any representative to fill out the forms. You can simply follow the available guide on CIC website, and fill out the forms.

Second, yes Currently there is a difference of 10 months in processing between New Delhi and Buffalo. So if you have a choice of sponsoring them through Buffalo then i would say go ahead.

You have to fill out these forms initially plus all the supporting documents

# Application to Sponsor and Undertaking [IMM 1344A]
# Financial Evaluation [IMM 1283]
# Sponsorship Agreement [IMM 1344B]
# Use of a Representative [IMM 5476] (if you want to be a rep for your parents, and talk to embassy on their behalf use this form , put your name in and ask your parents to sign it)
# Document Checklist — Sponsor [IMM 5287]
#The receipt form [IMM 5401] (you can also pay fees online or you can order it online from CIC at https://services3.cic.gc.ca/kmsweb/order/orderitemform_init.do?dispatch=orderitemform_init&org.apache.struts.taglib.html.TOKEN=6760fc900e0791a913eb6d8a01e1993e)

Does anyone know how much the total fee is for Sponsoring parents?

My wife wants to sponsor her mother and father and I'm gonna co-sign (as her spouse).

Thanks.

According to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives.asp
Depending on who you are sponsoring, the fees are:

•$75 for the sponsorship application
•$475 for the principal applicant
•$150 for a dependent child of the principal applicant, under age 22 and not married or in a common-law relationship
•$550 for a dependant of the principal applicant who is 22 or older, or who is under 22 and married or in a common-law relationship and
•$490 for the right of permanent residence fee, which is required before the status is granted. (Note: If you do not include the $490 fee when you submit your sponsorship application, you will be asked to provide it just before your relative's visa is issued. This fee is the only fee that you do not need to include when you send in your sponsorship application.)

So $75+$475+$550+$490 = $1590

No,for the 2 parents it would be $75+$475+$550+$490+$490 = $2080
